A few weeks back I was working on a Diamo Tourista and since have been side tracked by other projects.
So I decided to go back at it with a fresh approach and a clear head.
My issue is NO spark. After climbing around the other forums I have checked a few common problems.
Old thread for reference:
scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=51424
The connections in all the gang plugs are in good order. My killswitch and kickstand are both operating properly and in the running position. Alarm isn't activated and ignition switch seems to be functioning properly. I have replaced both COIL and CDI.
Then I found this:
do you get voltage at the coil??? if you do using a test light hooked to the + terminal of coil and ground and crank the engine if the light goes off and on the cdi is working. what are your colors??
the red and white if you have it, is the timing pulse wire, you should read a "pulse" voltage from it with the connector disconnected from the cdi while cranking. read from the r/w wire to ground. and look for pulse when cranking. permanent magnets in the flywheel will induce a voltage in timing pulse wires for the cdi.
yarddog
So I went to test this. BOTH wires to the coil light up my test light WITH AND WITHOUT cranking. They have a constant 12v to BOTH the orange and r/w when the key is on.
Why are there 3 wires? The coil has plus and negative signs and properly sized spades for each connector. + for R/w and - for the orange.. the black one that bolts down onto the frame does what?
Why would there be 12v Battery power while the key is on to both terminals?
Why does my test light "tapping" the orange terminal create a SPARK?
Here's the fun part. WHILE CRANKING if I touch my test light to that small orange connection while plugged into coil IT WILL SPARK! Only once and only while tapping my test light to it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can anyone tell me which of these should be my coil trigger?
I have replaced both CDI and COIL with no luck. However when I first pulled the CDI I found this wire hanging out of the # 3 pin. Is this where it goes or was it just dangling there and belongs in a different pin? I plugged it back into #3 for now.
My intuition tells me the trigger isn't "ticking" the signal to spark. However my feeble mind needs direction into WHY this is happening and how to determine for sure.

Then I found this:
unplug and replug your cdi connector a couple of times.
