I recently purchased this oil cooler kit for my scooter: scooterchromeparts.com/#/oil-cooler/4563435387It came in the mail today, and I spent an hour or two just trying to find the best place to mount it. The bone I already have with this particular radiator is that it is a little awkwardly wide to mount in most places you would want to mount it. I have finally settled on mounting it behind the front tire, as there is a little hook there on my frame I think I can securely fasten it to, and it is the only place it will fit where it will receive sufficient airflow. Everything in the kit seems sturdy enough. The mounting hardware is not quite adequate for what I have in the mind, so I will have to put something together myself to mount it. In fact, if you get this kit I would plan on having to get your own mounting hardware or modifying what you get regardless. I was hoping the filter it came with would be something better than the stock screen, but it seems to just be a relocated screen filter. The kit came with a few feet of braided tubing, with any luck it will be enough so I don't have to order some more. I couldn't find a kit online that beat 159 shipped anywhere, so this is what I went with. The good thing about it is that you could use any radiator you want with this kit, but I am going to stick with the one it came with since I already paid the steep price for it. Hopefully the day will come where we can just buy the adapter that replaces the drain plug by itself and not drop 160, but that day hasn't come yet, or I didn't search around enough for it. Either way this unit seems decent enough and I think I will be happy with it. I will try to post pictures as I install it sometime this week, but it will probably be slow going as the daytime heat limits the time I can be outside working on it this time of year. I am also waiting for a supposed "better" cooling fan to go with this upgrade, and an HID kit that will probably get its own thread.

I have the same oil cooler but i just bought the actual oil cooler radiador on ebay for $25.00. the kit scooterchromeparts sells comes with everything. as for the racing fan if you got one like the one i posted they are crap!!!!! trust me on this go with your factory fan. they are way better! I have so many performance upgrades on my scooter and i will never switch the fan to one of those "RACING FANS" Attachments:

I am doing an oil cooler setup with my 61mm bbk. I am using an oil cooler from Setrab I had laying around. The lines are from a heavy duty gas turbine engine that periodicity get replaced and usually thrown away. I also have the right side crankcase that is factory tapped into the oil feed and return lines. I intend to mount this like the "genuine buddy" scooters with only the cooler exposed and the lines inside the plastic where the battery lives. Here it is mocked up beside the scooter. This should add over a quart to the system as well. Here's an old post from a french forum where this guy went to some trouble testing some fan setups- worth fighting through the google translator to read. There are some pictures of the various setups farther into the post. translate.google.fr/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.scooterchinois.fr%2Fmodules%2Fnewbb%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ftopic_id%3D6308%26forum%3D93

I have so many performance upgrades on my scooter and i will never switch the fan to one of those "RACING FANS" Well, those racing fans do exactly what they are supposed to, reduce drag on the engine from the fan, giving you an unnoticeable increase in power to the wheel. Its a stupid idea, but they do "work" But I would never buy one of those lol I am waiting for this one www.ebay.com/itm/230814834180?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1117wt_1163Its from autotech, who is on a short list of my very trusted dealers, so if he says he tested it (and he does have pictures of doing so) and it increased airflow a bit, I am inclined to believe him. Yea, is the radiator any good? It seems well enough, but it does feel a little flimsy. Have you installed it? I actually have a question about how I want to mount it, it will makes more sense with a picture so I will go take one in a second. The guy selling them really doesn't know much about them other than what people he has sold them to have done with them, so he isn't always a lot of help.

This is the way I am leaning towards installing it if it doesn't make a difference that the unit is upside down. It would give the oil lines a very clear path in and out. I don't see why it would make a difference putting the unit like this, as one passage way will have to push oil up into the radiator, and one will still have to push it down out the other regardless of whether its upside down or right side up. This is the way the supplied mounting stuff would have me put it, but it seems like it would be prone to kinking in the lines, and would be a lot of unnecessary up hill lining just to get to the in/out nozzles. Any thoughts or knowledge on this? I know you said you have this radiator scooter elements, where did you put it? I can not find anywhere else on the bike this thing will fit and get airflow than right here, so is this how you installed it? Will my idea work? You seem like you know a good bit about these things.

I must have overlooked this little opening in the dark last night. I may just do it this way then, that way I don't have to go make another mount for it, I can just get some shorter screws and use his, probably just reinforce it somehow. It looks like this way I can keep the unit infront of the body plastic that goes there too, and just cut holes for the mount and tubing to pass through, that way I can keep an eye on it for leaks.

Put the large hole for the main mount to fit through (its going to attach to a hook off of my frame that was empty and right there) The two large holes to the left and right are for the oil lines to pass through, and the smaller holes are for a support mount I will be fastening to the bottom corners of the radiator unit. I will post pictures of the mount system once I am finished putting it together, its nothing fancy though. This is the passage through the frame that I am using to run the lines though. I almost missed it, but then I remembered I ran the lines for my battery tester through the same area. I am running the lines below the battery compartment like some of the Taiwanese bikes that are cooler equipped do. I figure it will be more organized and a cleaner look that way. I am running them through the left side of the bike (left as in you are riding it left) so that I can circumvent the header pipe with the lines. The lines that came with the kit are pretty tough, but I would rather not take the chance. The canister is where the relocated mesh filter is. I was disappointed that the "filter" the kit came with was just another screen filter. I suppose if it works though.

Most hold 750mls of oil but how much more with the cooler and its lines ? Does the stock oil pump able to handle the extra volume of oil ?
Has anyone installed an electric oil pump to act as a helper pump to the mechanical pump?
Anyone install an oil pressure sensor and gauge ? I think 4Ts should at least have an oil light but prefer a pressure gauge .
Can a catch can or blowby tube be used with an oil cooler ? Both of my 150s have a oil pressure relief tube with a plug in the end . Normal riding it never had anything in it , but a top speed run can get a few drops of whipping oil in the tube . I say whipped because it looks bubbley instead look like normal out of the bottle . I think its great to have the tube or can instead of blowing seals and gaskets .
I do not like the oil screen since its not as good as a paper filter and wonder how an internal filter would fit and work in its place . Some of my motorcycles had an external spin on oil filter like a car , and I thought it was neat the first time I saw one since most do not have one .
Has anyone used in farad thermometer to compare the temps of before and after the oil cooler installation ?
Porsche 911s used oil cooling for years and only a few years ago thy switched to antifreeze . I have only gotten to service 1 911 before . It was a murdered turbo ( means everything black ) held 8.5 to 9 quarts of 20w50 , but is the only car I know of that you check the oil level with the engine running . Just thought I would share this tid bit since it was neat to me . I think oil cooling is better than antifreeze .
Ever install a fan like a computer chassis or CPU type ? If so , manual power switch ? The fan behind my radiator is stator powered , as with the key turned off it dies , and turn the key back to run position it does not resume unless the engine is running . I would rather it be battery powered so it can cool when I park instead of wait until the fan stops to turn off the engine .
Do most GY6 engines have two oil drain plugs ?
Anyone had any luck installing an oil cooler with an oil filter ? If so did you still have the oil screen or removed it ?
If you have an AC 4T , an oil cooler is a great idea to protect your investment . I wish scooters had a larger capacity crankcase to hold more oil instead just enough . That way if its low you may be ok to an extent . I like how many Mercedes held 8 quarts of oil where most US cars were 4.5 to 5 quarts

That way if its low you may be ok to an extent . I like how many Mercedes held 8 quarts of oil where most US cars were 4.5 to 5 quarts Thats a mouthful, I will try to answer what I can. I am not sure how much extra capacity it adds yet, I am estimating that it will bump it up from 3/4 quart to a full quart...which seems reasonable. I have heard of people discussing putting in an electric pump, but I have never seen it done, same with the pressure sensor. I agree they should have something, but I just frequently check my oil. All scooters come with a blowby tube, with the stock system it plugs into a compartment in your airbox, once exit from that compartment goes into your air intake, the other into a plugged tube. Most people replace this system with a catch can, it doesn't really matter what you do with it, so long as it can breathe. People just direct it into a can or away from the engine. I have a can, but right now I have it disconnected. The oil in the tube looks strange because it often comes out with condensation. The oil screen is what it is, I know some people add a better filter, but some are cautious about doing this because of oil pressure. I know it was recently discussed on here somewhere. I have a thermometer that is built into the dipstick, but I have never used it because it didn't seem like it would seal as well as the stock stick does. Some people install fans blowing onto the head of the engine. Normally it drops the temperature a few degrees, but nothing really noticeable. Where I am putting my radiator, I do not feel like it will need a fan. It should catch plenty of wind. I'm not sure on the drain plugs. I *think* mine might have two, but I only ever use the main one. This system just relocates the screen filter inline. I am sure you could put any filter inline you wanted...I am just not sure if the oil pump could deal with it in addition to the added capacity. I live in Texas, so I am hoping this will end up being worth the effort and time, so far it is looking promising. I will let you know the capacity when I have everything together and filled up. I will also let you know if it runs noticeably cooler, though I may not have any exact numbers for you. the cooling fan looks a lot like the stock fan , what exactly is the difference? It hasn't arrived yet, so I can't tell you. I know it is made of a different material than the stock one, that may be all it takes. There could be more fins, or a slightly different angle, I can't say until I have them next to each other. Seller is a good guy though, I don't think he would push a gimmicky product. I need to get one of the starters he sells too.

So this is how the cooler turned out. You have to fill up the cooler and the lines before you plug them into to the drain plug attachment....the dealer provided a syringe to do this with...but that was a joke. Had to go and get a 1 pint oil pistol to get it done right. Haven't noticed any leaks yet, and everything sounds and looks good. You can definitely feel the heat getting pulled out by the cooler, but I haven't had time to take it out for a drive yet since I installed it. Does seem to keep the engine noticeably cooler on the center stand though, which is a good sign. Took about half a pint to fill the radiator and lines, so I would say the system adds about 250ml to the system, bringing the bike to holding a full quart. I think thats pretty good. As for the fan, here are some comparison photos for you guys. The diameter of the new fan is a little larger than stock, there is the same amount and placement of cooling fins, but they are longer, and with a slight taper at the end. The orange one also has a hole in the middle...but I don't think that effects anything. Maybe reduces the weight a bit. Definitely came with good mounting hardware, not that the stock mounting stuff was bad either. I don't have an airflow meter, but holding my hand in-front of the two fans, the new fan definitely seems to move more air, thats hardly scientific proof though. However, based on the design of the new fan, the test done by the dealer, and my observations I am 99% sure that this fan is AT LEAST as good as the factory fan, and feels much more sturdy. I am fairly sure it moves a little more air though. For 11 dollars, if any of you have proper testing equipment, I would say it would be worth your time to look at it.

It looks like all they did is made the Outside Circle part that holds the Fins smaller in width which shows more of the fins and makes them look longer. my .02 Wile

When I held them up together, the fins on the orange one did look noticeable longer, could be an illusion though. Maybe the thinner outside circle part allows the fins to move more air? I am not sure.

First road test. Went down 60 at wot, no leaks from the system, so it seems sound enough.
Engine was sounding a bit better at high speeds, but that could just be from the fresh oil.
Radiator gets pretty toasty, so it is pulling heat from the system, radiant heat from the engine bay seems to be slightly less.
