Hi all,
I bought just bought a 2008 JMSTAR 250cc YY250T JSD250T-2. Had it checked by my motorcycle mechanic and it checked out fine. It runs good, only issue is everytime I ride it and have gone about 5 miles it cuts out and dies (real fun on the freeway doing 65mph) I can reach down and start it again using the key fob (another issue is the start button on the handle bars doesn't work). My guess is that it's running on the fuel in all the lines and once that goes it's not picking up any fuel from the tank. I tried drilling holes into the gas cap thinking it needed to be vented, (vaccum issue?)didn't help. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks for the help!

I had same problem, after 5 mile it would shut off, had to pull over and it took some crank to start, go another mile or so shut off again, I soon discover that it never shut off when cold out, other when it was warm or hot out. It turned out to be my ignition coil.

Thanks for your info. Mine starts right back up and goes the same 5, 6 or 7 miles and then shuts off again. Does it when it's hot or cold. I'm guessing it's part of the fuel system, maybe the vacuum fuel pump.

Yeah, that pump needs full vacuum to operate, so connect one nipple on the manifold directly to the pump, and tee the air cutoff and the fuel vapor canister to the other nipple.
Vacuum drops to almost nil at WOT, so the pump loses efficacy when it needs it most.
Also if the tees are 1/8 they should be replaced with 3/16 and the lines made as short as possible to increase airflow in the vac lines. Your float level may also be too low in the fuel bowl , but try to tighten up the vacuum situation first by renewing end cuts and clamps.

Crack the gas cap and ride it and see what it does... Tank probably is not venting fast enough from a clogged up cap vent.

The problem may be the fuel filter. Just a thought and maybe it needs to be checked.
