My 2008 Roketa MC-54-250B Linhai Clone continues to have carb issues and we can't seem to come up with a solution. Idle is set around 1500 (anything higher and the wheel begins to turn) and until the scoot warms up (after about 10 mins or so, or it has already stalled once) it will stall. During the warm up period, I need to give it a little throttle once and a while so it won't stall, once warmed up, however, it runs fine. I replaced the O-ring on the enricher to get a better seal, hoping that would help, but it didn't seem to. I had someone hook up a vacuum gage and everything checked OK. Valves are at .004/.006 I even purchased and had installed a replacement carb, but it ran even worse, so I went back to the original one.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to why it's stalling? Any questions or suggestions would be very appreciated.
I am getting very frustrated with this thing. It's really starting to lose it's "fun" factor!

You need to have a minimum idle speed of 1800, but it'll be more consistant at 2000.
It really shouldn't be engaging the clutch until 2300 RPMs, so you might have to open the CVT cover and see if anything is amiss.

Have you changed the fuel filter?

Ce is right, something is not right with the Clutch or Variator one of the two. The wheel should not start to spin UNDER 2000 rpms. So the first thing is to check out what is the problem with the Variator and or Clutch. Then once that is fixed you can bring up the IDLE to 1800-2000 and you should be ready to rock and roll. Wile

What should I be looking for in the clutch and variator? How will I know if something is amiss?

I would take off your cvt cover and take a look at both variator and clutch, when off is your belt on top of clutch or in, see if your variator is open or closed, I'm currently have the same issue and found that my clutch is still engauged when stop, I odered the main torque spring.

Had the cover off today and I honestly don't know if anything is amiss or not. The only thing that I noticed was some "gunk" built up, but it's not in contact with the belt at all. I'll post pics. The last one shows the gunk on the housing. Attachments:

This one shows some of the gunk on the housing. I couldn't remove the variator to look at the weights because when I tried I broke off a couple of the ribs. There must be a special trick to that. Attachments:

**UPDATE**
I just thought I'd update everyone as to the stalling issue I was having (note, the word "was"). After much exploration, it was determined that the valves indeed needed adjusting. The last guy that worked on it for me either, didn't measure them correctly, or didn't check them at all when he told me they were at .004 and .006. (I'm going to have a little talk with him!)
Due to time constraints and just pure frustration I ended up taking to a shop. Yea, it cost me a few extra coins, but, to be honest, I'm glad to have my ride running and idling as it should. I'm still having an issue with it "squeeling" at take off, but that's something to be left for another day in the near future.

Good to hear you discovered the problem. I'm sure it grinds some peoples gears when I question their valve adjustment after they say it's been done but it pays to be thorough.

Mine would stall just before coming to a stop but start right up . Valve adjustment as they were loose and it was new again
