Customer brought me a 2008 Benelli X50 bike in on Friday. The customer also dropped off a racing CDI box for the Minarelli Jog style engine. This customer has asked me to wire this CDI box to his Benelli, but here's the kicker......The customer removed the stock CDI box and cut the wire connectors from the CDI. The wire colors on the bike don't match the wire colors on the CDI. This Benelli has a Yamati based engine. So......is the CDI incorrect for this application, or does someone know how to wire this racing CDI to this bike?......or should I just give the bike back to the customer and tell him he cut the wires sooooo good luck?

If its a 5 pin then 2 are on a plug , some are male others a re female so that eliminates 1 wire . The last two wires one should have a stripe and mate it to the other striped wire . My colors did not match but that is how I installed mine and 2,500 miles later its still works . The racing CDI did not have a screw hole to mount it so I used a zip tie pulled with pliers to hold it on

The CDI is actually a six pin box. The two wire connector uses only one Red/Black stripe wire, other is vacant, The four wire connector has Blue/White stripe wire, Black/White stripe wire, Green/White stripe wire, and plain black wire. The racing CDI box is the blue aluminum cased type. The two wire connector from the racing CDI has an orange wire and a black wire. The remaining 3 wires on the racing CDI are Red/Black Stripe, Red/White Stripe and Black/Red stripe. None of the wires seem to match up. Any help??

Are you saying the ORGINAL CDI had 1 wire on the TWO PLUG CONNECTOR? If so that is a DC CDI and if so and the raceing CDI he brought you has 2 wires on the TWO PLUG CONNECTOR then he has the WRONG RACING CDI that is a AC CDI. Wile I would say give it back to him and tell him GOOD LUCK.

Scrappy also has a Mikuni oil pump that would work better than the oem one
