I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a Kandi Viper 250cc in a few months and saw where a few people had some on here...
I'm guessing they are a cheap China import but are there any major problems with them generally? Does the motor and tranny hold up decently if not pushed 100% all the time? I've read the fluids should be changed before driving it the first time but anything else? Any other tips?
Thanks in advance

I beleive ther is only 1 engine...the 250cc one. I've emailed Kandi abou tif they manufactured the motor or someone else and they said they manufactured it...but I"e read on one forum post it was actually a Rocketa motor...So I'm not really sure what I'll be getting....lol

i have seen the 244 cfmoto and 257 linhai either way it wont change my advice. last guy i told never came back.
1. take delivery of trike, 2. put it together, sort all the rattles, get the steering and suspension sorted out. 3. go for a ride or two, carb is gonna be out of adjustment, and top speed when completely tuned is gonna be 55mph. 4. take your plasma torch out and cut the rear section out of the trike and send the engine and such to me. 5. go get a replacement rear half. 6 weld it in 7. sort the stuff that goes with a swap, shifter, brake etc. 8. enjoy.
doesnt matter which engine you got, even if you grade them with the "300" kit, your still only gonna be pushing 19 to 20 horse. maybe 58-60 mph at full tilt. not a ton of performance kits or parts, and none is gonna get you to 60 with any sort of real acceleration, and still at that speed the engine is gonna be maxed and taxed.
depending on your skill level decides which is best for you. weld in the rear half of a cb400, (27hp) automatic with high low, only a basic shifter is needed to throw it from low to high. cb750a (47hp) or swap the head from a cb750 onto a cb750a for more power.
a juiced up engine from a rear scooter, go to the insurance auction, get a burgman 400 or 650, silver wing 600, or aprillia 500, piaggo mp3 anything with similar power. thats been bashed in the front, dropped on its side. the frame section and the engine with rear wheel is what you want to be good. weld on. fit a larger gas tank or storage boxes.
again back to the insurance auction. this time for a powerful sport bike. again cut and splice in its frame and engine and tranny and rear swing arm. shifter cart linkage will get the tranny rolling, plenty of sport bike engines have been installed in cars, the tutorials on the shifter setup and such is out there. anything from a 80 horse 600 650 efi to a gut busting 120 horse liter engine will keep you well entertained for years to come.

chromestar, I'm almost fine with doing the motor swap, but waht am I supposed to do about reverse? I actually like the lower 250cc size and would be willing to swap a 250 enduro motor, but I would still need a reverse for the Viper... I'd be using mine for work commute on local roads so 50 would be about the max with occasinal 55-60mph.
Again my main concern with a tranny swap is getting a reverse in the new tranny...any suggestions there??

Would it be fairly easy to swap an ATV motor and tranny (with reverse) with the Viper's? Then just extend the linkages for the shifter and reverse mechanisims?

reverse is the mofo only the huge cruisers have reverse, think goldwing. i want one to swap a big boy engine in. i have no need for reverse. if your fine with 45 cruising and stuff then tune that bad boy up. the previous guy was trying to get on the highway and was just about killed 5 times by big trucks in less than 10 miles because 55 was his top on flats, and hills were killing him the much lighter 150 trike can not rememeber whats its called its a few hundred pounds lighter. now that with a 250 trike engine is what they need to build. this much lighter one with the 250 trike engine. sunl spider.

Viperrider, who did you order your's through? I've manily been looking at ones offering free shipping (like powersportz.com and xbuggy.com)... I haven't ordered one yet, but like you don't really need much in terms of power/speed....
