Howdy all, cruzmsl here!
Thank you all for a great board, I've learned just about everything here is to know about scooters here before I even bought my scooter.
I just bought and immediately upgraded my *NEW* 2009 Kymco Super 8 4T. Although I am still running a stock carb and exhaust, I got an NCY 81cc BBK with racing head and cam. Installed it and made a good difference. Naturally the CDI is cut, variator boss smooth, and main jet is currently #88 although I think that is lean. I still have to install a yellow set if 1500 RPM clutch springs. On the way are Ninja 7 gram sliders and yet to be purchased will be a better belt and rear clutch. I'm gonna just run the originals and get my money's worth out of them.
Performance on the installed kit before any carb/air tweaking: Initial start is now difficult, I have to give her a little gas during auto start. Idle is weak and sometimes quits after warm-up. Acceleration is just fine, good and strong all the way to top end, which is now about 42 mph. (GPS verified) I am noticing a nice lag when I give her the beans at mid-throttle. I'm attributing both the lag and idle issues to a simple air/gas mix adjustment and/or a main jet that is too small. A good plug chop is on the way tomorrow so we will see.
Anyway, thanks again and happy scooting to all!!!
