Does any one have any opinions on GMW brand of scooters? I am looking to get one and they sell them in my area but I want to find out how nice they are before I go out and spend money on it. Any information would be great. Thanks

Thank you. I have done some research and they look nice and everything but I have never talked to anyone that has owned one or ridden one other than they local scooter store owner. I just don't want to buy a $1400 scooter blind and have problems with it after 500 miles because its a piece of junk. Maybe I will have to be the first and let everyone else know how it is

Most of the GMW bikes are made by ZNEN.

ANYONE can buy from the factory in China and put whatever badges you want on them, free, for the order of 1000 scooters or more.

They are a rebadged chinese scooter. My competitor sells them. They do look nice for a chinese bike, but they are still are most likely chinese quality. They have the standard QMB139, 4 stroke motor that is on most chinese 50cc bikes. The cheapest, higher quality bike on the market is the KYMCO Agility 50 for $1399 and a 2 year parts and labor warranty that is good coast to coast with about 600 dealers. Full Disclosure...I am a KYMCO dealer, but I do also sell the chinese bikes from $799. My strongest recommendations, if you can afford it, get the KYMCO, you will be much happier!

Greg Greg is right...I am a mechanic for a scooter rental shop on the beach of South Haven (Lake Michigan) We rent..sell and repair scoots. My boss..the owner took me to the trade show with him...one booth had some sharp scoots but with cheesy names and decals. I asked if he could change that..he said yes...please say what you wish for on scooter <---Chines accent I said..well my boss here..his name is Jerry...can you send some over with the name "JERRYS JAMMER" on it...I chuckled but he was serious and said yes...how many you will wish to purchase?... I was astounded...ONE company can produce identical scoots...with ANY brand or name you wish on it... Bright side is...that is why nearly any part from any 50cc scoot will fit brand X scoot..

The engine style is common but the quality of the engine is determined by who cast the parts that are used to make it. We see some brands last as little as 600 to 2,000 miles and others that last 14,000 plus miles.

So how many of the $799 rated scooters that sell for $1399 now are built in China by Kymco? www.kymco.com/about_kymco/group_2.aspIf you so strongly recommend the Kymco why do you sell the $799 scooters?

Kymco and SYM both have plants in China. People were afraid of Honda's car quality when they started building cars in the US. Honda proved it was not the American worker but the management of the US car companies that caused the poor qualiity of American cars. I have been told that the Piaggio Fly scooter is made for them in the Znen factory in China.
SYM made Honda products for a number of years. Hyosung made Suzuki products for a number of years.

Very true all of what you said and Piaggio along with their network of Aprilla, Motoguza, Vespa and others are building things in China www.piaggio.com/en/www.engines.piaggio.com/manufacturing.aspBut they now go to China for cheaper labor yet want the higher prices. Question is do they do any better than the cheap Chinese scooters that everyone wants to compare them too? Time will tell. They also still say we are made in other places yet you find more and more of the China plants they operate from. And as far as the Japanese car compaines operating in the U.S? They are run from Japan and their management if you recall recently led Toyata to one of the largest auto recalls in history. Toyota spent millions in advertizing to simply say we've got it under control and it's OK.

To me China is the worlds largest candy store. You can get good candy or you can get bad. It just depends on what factory made the candy.

Maybe you need to learn to read better? The man recommends the the more expensive Kymco's because they are so much better yet he still will sell you a cheaper $799 scooter that he says is not as good? Why? If you recommend a better scooter than why just not sell the better scooter?
Then it's a known fact that Kymco's are now being built in China. Why? Obivous, build it cheaper like the $799 scooter yet say it's a Kymco, better built, more money. It's not anything new, heck Honda and all the name brand people have done the same thing but have they dropped the price to a Chinese level of cost scooter? I think not.
Now are you missing anything?

Thank you for your condescending answer. And yes, like I stated before I'm missing something. Your logic. Using your logic , a restaurant should only sell filet mignon and forgo selling a hamburger because obviously the filet is a much better and more expensive cut of meat. But that presupposes that every diner views his dinning options strictly in monetary terms. I believe at this time only one of KYMCOS models sold in the US, the Agility, is being produced in mainland China. The rest, some 12 models, of the line are being produced in Taiwan. The sure-fire way to tell is to look at the 11th digit in the VIN. If it is a B, it's made in Taiwan; a C and it is from their factory in mainline China.
