Hello Scootdawgs!
Been a while, but I am back!
I am on the market for a trike for my mom, she had knee surgery and had to give up her bike, and would like a small trike, so she does not have to stay in the cage.
I have been shopping around, and have talked to a dealer or two, and so far have been really disappointed by them. The last one I spoke to (Killer Motorsports, in TX), has had an ad up for a 2011 Ice Bear 250_2 (looks very much like the Road Warrior trike on Jim's site, Rapidrepair, only minus the elongated front forks) for $2850 on cycletrader for well over a month. I called them today, and the person I spoke to informed me that they did not have that trike, and only had 2012s now. I went back to cycletrader to check and lo and behold, the $2850 trike I wanted has changed from $2850 last night to $3999 today. The ad also still stated that it was a 2011, not a 2012. This kind of thing strikes me as an attempted bate and switch, and I'm not gonna play that game.
So scootdawgs, I am looking for a scooter trike similar to that one, since my mom is fond of it, and not a real fan of the plastic covered "sporty" models.
My budget is $3000, I am not picky about year (2010, 11, 12, I don't care), and I don't need a PDI or assembly, as I am quite handy with a wrench, and will be providing all of the future maintenance on the trike once my mom has it anyway.
Jim, or anyone else, can ya help a fellow scootdawg out?
Adrian

Adrian, With a $3000 budget you will have to settle for a pre-owned trike of that style and size. I looked at the one you are talking about www.cycletrader.com/listing/2011-ICE-BEAR-250-2-99707772 and that is the Snow Leopard and Ice Bear has discontinued that model. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair

apittington, I'm sorry I don't have anything for you but you might want to check on Craigs'list for anything in your area. Since I see that you are located in Phoenix which I really like to see and don't understand why more people don't share that information. Anyway check on ebay and like i said Craigslist and hopefully you'll find somthing. Good hunting

Still looking for one of these. My mum *hates* the Road Warrior because of its "chopper" raked front end. Scooterdepot.us has them advertised still, but I called to order and they don't have them any more, and claim they are having "trouble" changing their site.
Can't find one anywhere. If anyone sees one, or knows where I can order, let me know.
Budget is no longer $3k, have the full asking price plus shipping of everywhere I have looked that no longer has them when I call.
Thanks! Adrian

I would get a reverse trike since I have flipped an ATC over more than once back in my youth

Adrian You are going to have a very hard time finding a 250-2 since Ice Bear quit making them. You do realize that the 250-1 and 250-2 are manual transmissions? The verdict is not very good on the reverse trikes ( 2 wheels up front) unless you want to spend $30,000 for a Can Am. There has been a lot of discussions on front end problems and terrible handling issues. Some folks have a hard time getting use to them. Food for thought on a reverse trike, Ice bear use to sell them ( they bought from another distributor and resold them), they had so many issues and a very difficult time getting parts they quit offering them. Feel free to contact me if you like and I will try and help you find a trike for your Mom that she will enjoy. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair 715-825-3710

She is fine with the manual transmission, and is pretty set on this one, since the only other "cruiser" looking one I have found is the road warrior, which she hates.
I also have seen some terrible reviews of the reverse trikes, and she does not like how they look anyway, as they all look like scooter trikes, which she does not want.

I'm sort of in the same boat. Been looking for some time now and just can't decide. With what I have gathered, the Ice Bear is a nice Trike for the money if you choose the right dealer and get the PDI's done.
The problem, like your mom, is none really are what I want. If the Road Warrior was 300cc and had 14" tires, maybe. The Snow Leopard was enticing, but, they discontinued it with no explanation (which is weird, since it's similar to the Road Warrior.)
