Hi,
New here. Owned an '06 Yamaha Vino 125 for the past year, yesterday an SUV backed into it while it was parked (elevated safely, not leaning on kickstand). I had just left my Yamaha dealer mechanic after getting a new back tire and brake pads/fluid.
Sorting out things with driver's insurance, it's a pain but they've conceded fault, they are just arguing the details now. I wanted to ask if anyone had advice on the main concern I had (besides scratches/paint chips that resulted). Because the insurance is going to have someone do an estimate for damages, and I don't know whether anything is actually internally damaged (but it costs $90 for my mechanic to look at it, and since it's running fine, I want to see whether someone here can let me know if the potential issue is nothing to worry about).
The first thing I noticed was a dark liquid on the cement where it had fallen, and both the driver and a guy who witnessed the collision (who I think made the driver feel guilty enough to walk in the store where I was and find me) thought it had spilled out of the scooter, like some gas or something. I didn't know what it was, gas seemed unlikely because my tank is in the back, and the spill was at the middle body of the scooter.
When checking underneath, I saw a tube that looked still wet, and figured it came out of there. I'd never looked at the lower body of the scooter before, so I couldn't tell if the tube should normally look like (just hanging open like that) or not.
Can anyone tell me what that tube is for, and whether it's supposed to look like that, and what they think the liquid was? Pics here: s1174.photobucket.com/albums/r604/kthutchpal/
Thanks!
