I was just informed from Jim at Sunright (the Linhai distributor) that they were hit with an 18% price increase from China for Linhai parts. So much for all those cheap part prices!! So fair warning given. Part of the big attraction for me owning this Linhai 300 was the rock bottom parts pricing, and being able to deal directly with the distributor. But if China is going to start raping us like the Japanese do, then wtf. No, I am not happy about this. Bitch, bitch, bitch!!! Bad, bad, bad. I guess this is where I am supposed to say that even with the price increase, Linhai is still worth it. Umm, no.

It was bound to happen. And i wish i could find parts for my linhai.. What do you mean, wish you could find parts for your Linhai? I've had no trouble at all getting parts for mine, once you deal directly with the distributor in GA. Now of course dealers are going to hate to hear that, because you can get close to or at dealer cost for parts. That's one of the coolest things ever in owning a Linhai. But it probably won't last forever, as more dealers spread around the country. Eventually, due to pressure from dealers, the distributor will probably pull the plug on that and force dealer only parts availability- the way it is now with virtually any name brand anything.

But as it stands now, I am so happy with Jim and crew at Sunright, I can't rave about them enough. They have gone totally out of their way to help me. It's to the point that I can't really even say what they just did for me, because I am feeling like that is private. AGAIN. It is truly WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty.
Own a Linhai, for now at least, and deal with those guys and you will not only be happy with the bike, but you are going to be blown away with the service. Remember YMMV, but damn. I have not a SINGLE regret buying this Linhai 300. Not once I hooked up with them. Yeah, I am pissed about the price increase, but what are you going to do? Bitch at China?

scootforfun,
I have to jump in and validate about Jim and the rest of crew at Sunright. I live in Atlanta so I can actually just drive to their location and pick up parts when needed. I don't think I would have any other Chinese brand of scooters knowing that I can get parts at a very reasonable price and have Jim help trouble shoot my issues.
I have the Aeolus 260 with close to 15K miles and I have had to replace many worn and broken parts. Jim's help and the ability to quickly find parts really makes it nice to own a Linhai.
Just thought I throw that out : - ) Thanks everyone!

I'll also throw in my reference for Jim, Gigi, and the folks at Sunright. They're about 20 minutes from my house, and it's easy to swing by to pick up parts and look at what's coming down the pipe from Linhai.
Jim has helped me in several situations - his expertise is excellent (a simply explanation of symptoms has given accurate diagnosis and explanation of how to fix it). Good people.
Just replaced my variator a couple weeks ago on my LH300, and put new tires on it this week. Took a nice ride yesterday, and it's working great!

Yeah thanks itch and Dad, I totally agree about Sunright, and it's nice to see others thinking the same.

Ditto on the kudos for Jim and Gigi at Sunright. When I owned my Linhai they were great! If you're gonna own a chino-scoot, Linhai is the best (imho). (Of course it's the only chino-scoot I ever owned, but it was a good one -- still running too.)

Guys...You'll start to see this as time goes on. China manufacturing is becoming semi-expensive (still the best) vs. Thailand & the new China (Vietnam) China's QC is getting better every year & you'll notice that super-cheap scoots will not be made in China in the next 5 years.

BINGO MASSSCOOT!!!!! I read an article in Time not too long ago about wages going up at a rate of 15-20% a year in China (in a few years they can outsource scooter jobs to us!) If Japan can have car plants in Alabama why not?
