I know that SYM bikes participate, and even won once.

That's the thing, thank you Globs...carbon copying the original, in this case the Vespa is to me the highest form of flattery, regardless...and to have won with a Chinese scooter is pretty huge in my book...for both manuafacturers...be it Italian or Chinese.
BTW I just picked up the latest issue of Motorcyclist magazine and BMW is coming out with a 600cc scooter in both Sport and Touring markets, with ones for the US market slated for 2014...(they are already for Euro release now in 2012...) ;D

Me and Saber talked about going for 2014. It's definitely on my "list" now.

actually i got a scooter frame, 250 scooter, since VIN number is whats matters to title as a scooter. build it with a insurance wreck cbr 600. swap triple trees, and engine and rear swing arm. efi, huge gas tank, only problem, probably get arrested at 120 mph in some backwater crap box. lol

Never did the cannonball run, thought it would be fun to try it. My wife and I on our SYM's have done several long multi-state trips and there is a definite fun factor to it. Get a whole new perspective on travelling, and was glad we made the trips we did, the memories are priceless. The scooter trips like those are out for us now, due to medical reasons. We are still touring on two wheels, a Goldwing now, 2-up. My advice is if you are thinking about doing these things like the Cannonball or scooter touring, do it, dont put it off.

Oh so true man!!
The other thing for me about the SCB's, is this, jimT, has run 4 SCB's, all on the same 2005 Honda Big Ruckus!! He came in 8th or 9th place this year!! His story should drive some of us that would like a run at the SCB2014. I believe I read jimT is 71 years old this year. Thats just badassed to me.
