I ran across a source of low cost tire balancing beads recently and want to share what I've learned. I found these beads on Ebay for only $1.88 per ounce. The shipping is only $2 for the first ounce and free thereafter. Upon further inspection I discovered that 2 oz is recommended for each scooter tire. That would end up costing a total of $9.52 for both wheels. Not bad in my book! The beads are available through Checkered Flag Tires in Flagstaff, Arizona. A very nice gentleman by the name of Greg Arend owns the company. You can contact him by Phone at 928-255-5540 or email at cfmobiletires@gmail.com . Tell him Jerry in Toledo told you about him.

I've been curious about Dyna Beads, then checked your post. I ordered six ounces to get the free shipping. I'll see how well they work. I'll put the extra two ounces in my Dad's lawn mower. ;D checkeredflagtires.com/I did let them know you sent me.

How do you know where to put them.....to balance the wheel?.... A friend used the stick on weights and got lucky with placement. Cause you can't spin balance a scooter tire.

How do you know where to put them.....to balance the wheel?.... A friend used the stick on weights and got lucky with placement. Cause you can't spin balance a scooter tire. You just pour them in after removing the valve, centrifugal force pulls them outward and the tire becomes self-balancing.

i slimed my tires like I do on every scoot. it settles an the tire balances if not crazy out of whack. It also seals the heck out of them. Ive gone 600 miles and still maintain pressure. it doesnt eat your tire like fix a flat and you have future puncture protection. The stuff is amazing.

Please be aware that putting bb's in your tires may cause problems. The bb's rust and speed deterioration of the carcass from the inside. Jerry

I must tell all that I did have a problem in my front tire after I had beads installed. The tire was extremely out of balance. I took the bike to a local shop and had them remove the tire for inspection. When we opened the tire we discovered that the beads were sticking to the inside of the tire and could not move. Apparently the person who put the new tire on the wheel sprayed too much tire lubricant onto the wheel and tire. The inside of both the tire and wheel was wet with the stuff, causing the beads to stick and clump. This was a personal error, not a fault of the beads. This note is to remind all who use beads of any type to make sure the inside of the tire is completely dry. Otherwise you may encounter the same problem I did. Jerry

just a heads up , instead of using bb's as 89 cammingt suggests, #9 bird shot can be used. the #9 lead bird shot is half the diameter of a bb, so it is a easier fit down the tire's valve stem and lead wont corrode as much as bb's do. It (#9 bird shot) is available by disassembling the crimp in the plastic or paper shot gun shell with a pocket screwdriver and pouring out the #9 bird shot. most shot gun shells will contain about 3/4 to 1 once of #9 bird shot per shell. you can buy the shot gun shells in a box of 25 at a gun shop. shot gun shells are available in 20 gague and 12 gague, but you will get more #9 shot in the 12 gague shell.
I have to remind you of the goo problem of sticking the beads ,bb's or #9 bird shot in a clump as toledo 1156 warned about.
but for myself, since my scooter's front tire goes flat every 3 weeks, i am going to try the green slime that they sell at sears for fixing flats & get the balancing as a freebe aftereffect.
you should not put both the slime & the beads in the same tire because of clumping of the beads by the slime .

It would be cheaper to walk into a tire shop and by some dyna beads. I've heard of some guys using air soft bbs also.
