Hello all!
Ah, sure is nice to have forums where the members post pics and give maintenance tips!
My daughter happened to call me last night asking my opinions about getting a scooter for her to go back and forth to work on local streets. Strangely enough I had been researching the Taotao Powermax 150 for my wife and I to take camping with us. I already knew where a dealer had some great prices so we hopped in the truck and picked one up for her. Luckily for me she was impatient and wanted to be able to at least drive it around some when we got home so she paid extra for an assembled floor model. When we got it home I did a general inspection, hooked up the battery, checked the fluids and fired her up which let her putt around the cul de sac to break it in for a bit. Will change out the oil, fuel lines and spark plug tomorrow but that is probably the most I will mess with it (besides making sure the bolts have loc-tite).
Have to admit that I went over the bike and am impressed with the build quality {looks like the dealer may have added quite a few zip ties too although not sure).
I am familiar with Honda motorcycles but never owned a scooter before. Ran across some curiosities and was hoping someone's expertise could pipe in.
On the air filter box, there is a sliding piece on the intake tube.
What is the purpose of this or am I missing something?
There seems to be another mounting point for the rear shock absorber, is this for other models? (no other mount on other side and angle looks wrong to have double mounts)
What was the purpose of the little hook things under the rear compartment? Was this used to hold something in place when there is no compartment?
Thanks!
