I have been on this forum for almost 2 years.. And reading about the Chinese scooter and how they are and such. Now with gas prices being high you would think Scooters would be available. Seems its quite the opposite. I have been looking for a decent 250cc scooter for over a year. Wanted the CF Moto fashion, but the two dealers that are closest to me have Jacked up their prices where I can't buy one. So I have to search online. Craigslist have all scammers.. So I have to rely on the online dealer.. And seems that the online dealers that offer 250cc's are being killed on this site. I know people have problems with most companies, but like customer service you only hear the bad stuff.. No one ever takes the time to write when its a good experience. So are they all that bad? There has to be a good site that someone has experience with on here. I just don't want to be shelling out 3000-4000 grand for a scooter..

there are some good drop shippers not many tho, but there are.
you want a 250 and in CFMOTO type thos are gonna be more expensive than a 150 ESPECIALLY NOW spring has sprung prices on scoot, car, m/c's all go up now would be a good time to buy a snowmobile, tho
keep looking dont take just anything and even if you have to drive a bit far to find a good store its worth it when it comes to service

You have to look at the larger picture, just because say 4 people compain here about dealer "x" in the last year doesn't mean a whole lot if you learn dealer "x" sold 8,000 scooters last year. If you deal with enough customer and sell enough volumn, you WILL run into both the customer who simply CANT be pleased or made happy no matter what you do, conversely there's overworked sellers whose employees make mistakes, screw up, the owner may not even be aware of half of those, some of the crappy employees may not even be there in 3 months.
OTH if you learned that dealer "x" sold 50 units this year and there were 4 people complaining about lousy treatment etc, that's a lot more significant than 4 complaints about a dealer who sold 8,000 units. The problem is, it's nearly impossible to tell what kind of volumn is sold, anyone can build a super fancy web site and make themselves look like the scooter universe with a huge warehouse, staff, and give the impression they are a big outfit, when in fact it might be nothing more than a guy and his wife working out of their double-wide mobile home with one telephone and computer, drop shipping everything from the distributor.
I would steer away from the ones whose web pages offer you a crud-load of free stuff on a $619 scooter which is already being shipped "free", or offering for free things like a bill of sale and MCO- those are laughable to promote as free, does your supermarket charge extra for a receipt for your groceries??? Does Walmart charge for a receipt? a bill of sale is nothing more than a sales purchase receipt, you get one free for everything you buy.
I would avoid web sites that offer this kind of lineup on a typical $619-$800 scooter with free residential lift gate shipping;
FREE helmet, a $49 value! FREE gloves, a $22 value! FREE saddle bags, a $29 value! FREE MCO, a $35 value! FREE bill of sale, a $15 value!
If they have to offer all that junk for free (lets face facts, a free helmet is going to be CRAP, same with gloves) just to get you to buy during the PRIME demand time for these- spring, then it should be a red flag.

But the only bad thing is .. those are the websites are offering 250cc scooters.. I don't want to go broke buying a scooter and the B&M here are jacking up prices like crazy.. I was hoping to do business with John from Valley, but when I called them to ask about the Fashions they sell they were not sure if they included a windshield and trunk since they dont see the shipments.. So I got a little skeptical even though everyone says he is pretty good.. but I dont have the extra money to throw away on a will see what you get product.. that would be like going to a walmart and buying a TV not knowing if it comes with a remote and a stand ..

BUYER BEWARE
go get a 'cheap' 250 with free gloves, a piece of crap non dot helmet free mco--they legally have to give you one free bill of sale -- WHAT THE H ? and we will see you back here in a month complaining that you got ripped off

Hehehhh, how true "Warrior". ;D We have a saying in Dutch, Goedkoop is Miskoop!! (cheap buy becomes bad buy)... Although it is NOT always the case, it all depends on what is dealt with in yr hard or software that you purchase.

Well its not about being cheap, its about what someone can afford.. The thing is.. There how many posts on here about bad chinese scooters? And out of how many that are sold not only nation wide, but world wide since there are members here who are not from the US.. so that is my point.. how can they ALL be bad?? We only hear about the bad ones.. Out of how many are bad.. that is the question.. IF there weren't ones that didnt work this site would not exist..

so that is my point.. how can they ALL be bad?? We only hear about the bad ones.. Out of how many are bad.. that is the question.. IF there weren't ones that didnt work this site would not exist.. Thats true too and this brings to mind to what I witness on another forum I was in. There is this underlying thingy between the French & the Britons and with that goes a whole list of indifference and cold mistrust at who is better that the other....hahaaa Anyway, on one such issue, it deals with cars and the car I drive is a superb machine shared by the Aussies, South Africans, Germans too and Canadians as well and the British still have a popular market for it but the myth remains esp with the furious & disgruntled owners who suffers perpetual mechanical problems... - LoL On one occasion, an Israeli posted, it may just be the case that all the cars of this particular make rolling off the production line goes separately into another QC bay destined for the UK and why???... Because it was detected that there are some small unnoticeable flaws not immediately spotted by the naked eye and THEY are exported to the UK!!! LoL The British feels largely that French cars are the worst on the planet.... I can't fully disagree with that notion... well, not always....hahaaaa but they seem to get the worst of it most of the time while the rest of Europe has no complaints!!! ;D ;D

Find an online dealer with what you want, then check their reputation on google for reviews, ripoff report and forums such as this one. Knowing that with a Chinese scoot it's going to be a bit of a "fixer-upper"

My thought on that is, how much can a little windshield and a trunk COST even if it didn't come with them and you had to buy them from a secondary source? I think my universal windshield was $39 and it does a good job, the trunk was included but I think they are a ripoff at the $65 I've seen them priced at. Still, for $100 or so you can buy both even if they aren't included, so if a bunch of people are saying they were treated well by that John guy, then I wouldn't have an issue buying form him.

I did some research, the Windshields are 100.00 and the trunks are 149.00 for the Fashion.. not sure about Universals.. and the trunks for the fashions are big and match the scooter...
What makes it even harder is that only a few ship to Florida. We can't register new Roketa's.. so any Roketa site wont ship to Florida so that only leaves me with JCL or having to drive to get a scooter.. And like I said the B&M places here know this and jack up the prices.

Even $65 is a ripoff for one of the little trunks you see on almost all scooters, the lock on mine didn't even work brand new without having to bend the catch to get it to work. Looks like you have 4 choices; 1) Take a chance not getting the WS and trunk and buying them later for $249.00, 2) Deciding if the local dealer's price with those on it matches the total cost of a bike you would get shipped that doesnt have those and you pay $249 to get them. 3) Find a different brand or bike that is easier to obtain etc 4) drive to a dealer in the next state and buy there.

Maybe look around for a local independent import dealer. I live in a small town in Indiana and we have one. Service department on site , nice thing is if you have a problem, there's somewhere to go. I bought my preowned Kymco there but it was a trade-in, not a brand they usually carry. My 2 cents
