I was just wondering how many people use them on there scooter? I purchased one from HF when I got my scoot last spring but have never used it. I had my scooter in the garage over the winter and started it a few times with no problems. I guess what I am asking is should I be using it? Thanks for the input if any. ~N~Joy~N~Ride~Safe~

Hi if your not going to be starting and running the scoot during storage down time then yes they are very useful keeping the battery charged and they are also very handy for charging new batteries that need to be charged before use, such as the ones that come with a drop shipped scoot If on the other hand you use the scoot very often with hardly any downtime they are not as necessary Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank

Right on Hank, If put away say for the winter and you start them once a week and let them run for about 15 or so minutes with no lights on it will charge your battery as well as keep the gas flowing through the jets and passages and keep your carb from gumming up. Also the oil will run through the motor and keep things well lubricated. Come Spring or whenever your ready to ride, it will be ready to ROCK AND ROLL. If on the other hand you are not going to start your scoot for weeks or months then you need to drain your carb bowl of fuel and put the Battery Tender ® Junior 12V 0.75A Battery Charger on and just leave it on until spring or whatever. This little trickle charger is fantastic just connect it and forget about it. It will keep your battery charged up and when fully charged it will go in standby mode and when it detects a voltage drop it will start chargeing again and so on. I have dual alarms on my scooter, so it tends to drain the battery pretty quick. I use my trickle charger I picked up from Adv Auto. It comes with eyelets that connect to the battery. I just leave that on all the time, then simply plug the connectors together when I park for the night.

I bought mine last week and handed over to the Dealer to install it close to the battery but connecting cable sprouts up from under the seat. I hope to pick up my new Scooter this week. Tomorrow is still a holiday with us.

Dual alarms ? Why the need for two of them ? The extreme cold will drain a battery , that is why car batteries are measures in CCA cold cranking amps , and most scooters have under 10 amps so any loss can be bad . A trickle charger of 1.5 amps or less can help keep it charged when not in use . If you do not keep the battery on a charger or start it up often , a long storage time the battery may die .
The quick connects like above are great and eliminate having to R&R the battery cover plate in order to hook it up to a charger .
Wile is correct it is better to drain out all of the gas if storing for a long time as gas with ethanol only has a 90 day shelf life according to the EPA , and the ethanol can act like a solvent and slowly dissolve the rubber parts of the fuel system which the tiny particles will clog up the jets . I have used Stabil on a moped but draining or at least once a week starting up and let it run for 20 mins or more is better . I ride year round and switch out scooters to ride . I love my lil 50 for close rides , but I ride one of my 150s when its far or involves a going on a highway or freeway . I have ridden on a state interstate but the federal one here is almost like the Autobahn with so many going 80 mph its no scooter friendly unless its 250 or bigger .
I saw the charger at HF and for only 5.99 or so I would think its as good as a 20 or 30 dollar one . Some can charge up to 4 batteries at the same time . My good friend in Wyoming has 2 for his ATVs and snowmobiles as it gets way below freezing and he gets several feet of snow . It was a blast to ride a snowmobile 45 miles to town and get coffee at McDonalds drive through . They get so much snow you must have tracks like a snowmobile or add ons for a 4x4 as even Bigfoot would not be able to drive in it .
If the water gets low DO NOT USE TAP instead get bottled distilled water as its more pure and there is a diff as I have tested to make sure myself as I am always skeptic on most things until verified by me

I have a Battery Tender 800 permanently installed in my scoot. When I'm parked, I'm plugged in to keep the battery perfectly topped off. Not only does that mean I'll always have a nice fully charged battery when I go to get on my scoot, but it also means my battery will last longer since a fully charged battery does not decay as quickly as a partially depleted battery.
Additionally, should I ever have the bad luck of the battery getting too low to start the scoot, I can plug it into a nearby power socket to get the battery charged up enough to start it and get myself home.
