~S~ I saw a thread where the guy said he paid .75 for air. If you need air and there is a golf course around...go in and tell the counter person you have a soft tire and could you use their portable air tank and ask where it is. Take it...fill up your air...take it back...and thank them.

Well not always around a golf course but I have 3 compressors at home and gas stations here charge .75 cents for their air which is BS for all we overpaid for gasoline

Yeah, I stopped paying for air as soon as I figured out I could fill my tires with my bicycle pump. I have a pretty good floor pump and it puts air in my 3.5x10" tires at about 1 psi per stroke. It's more than worth it to save the quarters.

That is an eye opener Hank, a thousand for the link and looking at it with growing interest to have it too, just in case. However, I have hardly any air shortage problems with my car as mine are filled with Nitrogen and plan to have my scooter filled with it as well. Air by us is FREE and Nitro too with selected garages only.

I've always carried a small compressor - ever since they came out with them fifteen or so years ago. It's a lot easier to air up a flat and ride it to a shop or shelter, than it is to patch or change it on the roadside. That's especially true of cars, where the spare may be flat or the jack busted, and the roadside dangerous.
I had a SLIME mini-pump that worked splendidly. Only trouble was, since I had a slow leak (rim) on my BMW cycle, I used it a lot. And with about an hour's total use time, a few weeks ago, the whole mechanism seized up. And I can't find a replacement.
This looks good but I'm not going to buy a product like that if I can't feel and examine it.

I bought one of those plug in the cig lighter air pumps and the first time I needed to use it due to a flat, it didn't work. A total dud, they are cheap junk, maybe a can of pressurized flat repair will be better.

It won't surprise me if a petrol kiosk turns round at a chap seeking to pump some air and makes a counter offer: "Sure mate, air is all yours today but I'm short on time running this kiosk. Here's the key to the lawnmower, finish the two lawns you see there and you have all the air for yr scooter!!!" ;D ;D

Harbor Freight has one for 8.99 Odd. I was at the local Harbor Freight a week ago; they didn't have any compact compressors. Not even the bigger car-size.

A total dud, they are cheap junk, maybe a can of pressurized flat repair will be better. Don't know why that is. I've had four over the years; a Craftsman; a Campbell-Hausfield; a Slime brand (bigger-size compressor) and one I don't remember the brand of. The weak point seemed to be the air-hose; the clamp-on fitting would break off the crimped end fitting. Replacing that with a Napa air-pipe and crow's foot is a bit of work. Otherwise they all worked fine except for that Slime mini-pump.

I have a 13 gal compressor and a portable human powered compressor I got at walmart for $7.
The portable folds almost flat and has a pressure gauge built on it. When you need you hook it up to the tire unlatch a little hook, put it one the ground and step on it and push it down, then let it up then push it down then let it up. repeat until gauge shows desire pressure.

I bought a 12v mini compressor at Kmart for 9.99 and it fits under the seat . I have a large compressor at home and a pancake one too . The pancake is junk with a small tank do not get one . Check tire psi when they are cold as when warm or hot the psi will show more psi .
If you can get your tires filled with nitrogen instead of air it is not effected by changing of temperatures
