Just got the new scooter a couple weeks ago (2011 Model).. It's the 150cc Honda Ruckus look a like Has a sticker on the forks that says Dong Fang ( I took that sticker off ). I charged the battery up all the way the day we put it together from the crate and it lasted about three days before it went down to where it would not electric start the motor. Charged it up again and same thing, lasted about three days. Charged it up again and same thing, back to kick starting it again. Where should i begin looking for problems ? I was thinking cheap Chinese battery ?? But may also not be charging. Apart from that it's running great and I followed some advise I already read here and changed the spark plug , spliced in new blade type fuse and fuel filter.

Could be a bad battery. Might be that your stator isn't generating enough power. I'm not sure if this is true, but someone once told me to test the stator, you just turn the scooter on and disconnect the negative battery terminal. If nothing happens the stator is fine, if the bike drops rpms or turns off, your stator is going out.

start the bike up on the center stand at idle you should have 12 to 13 volts at the battery give it some gas to pick the rpms up and you should get 13.5 to 14.5 volts if not you do have a charging issue

Well I put a volt meter on it and at idle it's around 12.5 volts. When I rev up the motor the volt meter only climbs a couple tenths of a volt up to somewhere about half way between 12.5 and 13 volts. Whats my next step ? Replace the regulator or stator ? Thanks for any advise !

With ignition switched OFF, disconnect the battery positive wire and test amps between wire and battery. A significant amp reading may indicate the one-way regulator diode function is deficient . . or some other ground fault. Utilize Google search box at bottom of page and enter . . diode one way.

I'm thinking about buying one of the Dong Fang 150 Ruckus clones. Did you figure out why yours wasn't charging?
