Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and to scooting. I live in Texas, part time actor, full time worker and all the time fun guy. I like witty word play, rum, and long walks on the beach. Just kidding, I don't like witty word play or rum. But enough about me!
I recently purchased a 250cc Chinese scooter which I believe to be a Roketa. I did some research beforehand, and I've worked on enough cars and electronic gizmos that I figured the repairs and maintenance would be bearable. I also planned on finding an awesome resource like ScootDawg to help me along the way, so here I am!
I have my scoot up and running after some electrical issues and a problem with the idle not giving enough power to keep it from dying when giving it gas. My main reason for joining are to fine tune what I should replace on inferior parts, best ways to maintain the scooter, and best parts to upgrade for performance and longevity.
Glad to be here!

Welcome to scootdawg.plenty of info here. I think your first performance upgrades should be in the transmission. Variator and weights.

Hey welcome. My cousin is an actor in Los Colinas. He used to be in Walker TX Ranger. Best of luck with your career and scooter.
BTW, many times and dying scooter needs a valve adjustment. If it is a fuel issue, clean the carb jets. Also check the petcock valve by blowing and sucking several times on the vacuum line going to the gas tank petcock.
Only inferior parts are the fuel lines. Replace with clear yellow Tygon and you wont have to worry about the carb jet getting clogged again.

I insist upon starting troulbshooting how well an engine runs by doing a compression check. These little engines tend to developve low compression pressures without a lot of wear. A new GY6 should have near 200PSI . If it is near por below 125 it will not run right. So tell us what it's compression is.
Cheers lefty2

Thanks for the intro guys! I've already relocated my issues to the appropriate section (250cc and up), I'm the "RK Type 13 something something" title. Probably where I'll be keeping most of my issues as they arise. But I like the feedback I've gotten here already! dudley, you're the first one to recommend a transmission upgrade. Most people go for the cheaper parts, and probably the easier to replace ones. But if its an easy upgrade and not too pricey, I'm totally down with doing it. imnts2, I'm a bit clueless on how to do a compression check. I'll look into it, or you can fill me in here or my other topic
