Hello from Richmond. My name is Noah. Just purchased a used '11 TaoTao 50 Rival (secret 63) with roughly 446 miles on her. I am told the rings were replaced not too long ago. Changed the oil before taking her out. I plan to take the carb out to see what it is jetted at, thinking of going to a 95mm jet. Plan to order replacement CVT belt and spare CDI, and eventually new fuel lines, filter, and spark plug. In the mean time, this is a hella fun ride and I already got it to 43 mph on a flat road. Looking forward to some fun alternative transportation, as I already cycle a lot.

welcome. let us know how it is running and how it respons to your changes. Always do one at a time and get a good test run or two after each change. Be sure to make shure all lubs are fresh. Don't be to sure your speedo is correct. Most chinameters are very optonistic. Yours would not be the first with a Kilo meter with a MPH logo. If so. 43 KPH is really a bit under 30MPH

HI & WELCOME
post a pic when u can we love to look
ifna i was u i'd get the fuel lines, air, and ird plug 1st & change them out quick then when u can order ur cdi, coil,& belt.
also plan a few hours & strip the bitch down. LOL really, learn where all the parts are, clean up leaks, w/e -- so u can spot new ones-- tighten all the bolts, nuts,
theres a good PDI sticky { thread}on the home page. shes still not broken in with only 450 miles so vary ur throttle , hard, soft, hard, soft and watch the RPM's going down hills
wonder why the rings were burnt already Hhmmm ??
good luck & have fun, enjoy the ride

lefty, Definitely was looking at MPH rather than KPH, I was keeping up with 45 mph traffic for a bit until I backed off on the throttle.
Not sure why the rings burned but supposedly been replaced. I took it to work, 7 miles, then home the long route, 10 miles. Still the same amount of oil was in there as when I changed it so I think we are good on that, that's after sitting for 3 days. Although a little ticking, she has good pick-up. I will keep in mind getting the fuel lines, hoses, filter, plug replaced. I definitely want to take out the carb this weekend to see what size jet and make sure it is not running too lean or order a 95mm jet. Will post pick when In a bit.
