Funny, when a saw the reference to the wind I thought you were in Socal. We have some pretty good winds today...feels like the "Santa Ana winds, warm and dry.

High winds here too, but at least on the way back I had a 35 mph push. That looks like an excellent road to ride.

Rode for my first time in the wind as well just yesterday, holy cow it made a difference. Looks like a great area to ride in though.

Just a question about the wind.. My old scooter was a touring scooter and pretty heavy at that.. probably heavier then some motorcylces.. Aren't motorcycles effected by the wind as well?? I don't see the difference other then the wheels now that I can see a difference.

I took a 31 mile ride today, was glad I put on an extra jacket as it was about 67 but the wind was blowing 20 mph with 30 mph gusts, part of the trip it was a near head wind and part of it was cross wind, it was a good practice dealing with the side winds as it definitely wants to move you laterally, and in countering the wind you do have to lean into a little.
I find the little windshield works really well and was well worth the cost. Now have 415 km on the thing. It had plenty of power on the trip, but was affected by the 20 mph with 30 mph gusts headwind part of the trip to where it would be slowed to 25-30 mph, but easily 35 to 40 the rest of the time. I got home, touched the cvt cover and axles, and they were only pleasantly warm, just for my own info I drained the oil and checked the screen even tho it was done recently- since the scoot had fallen over from a wind gust while idling. The screen was clean as a whistle, filled up with fresh oil, and put a gallon of gas in the tank to fill it up. It looks like I ran about 103 km on a gallon of gas during the break-in, though the gallon wasn't scientifically measured either time, and a cup of gas difference either way could skew the results easy. I haven't been driving it with an eye for economy, more for variety, a lot of fast take-offs, stop and go in town, 35-40 on the open road etc so I expect the mpg will improve, more so I guess if I switch to synthetic oil, it has 10W40 castrol now. Going to consider break-in pretty much done at 500 km.

I took a trip to the next town over to visit a gun shop, was a pretty hairy ride, ominously dark cloudy skies, 60 degrees but WINDY, winds From S at 28 mph gusting to 34 mph. I was heading sort of SW but some portions of the trip headed more South and it was a head wind.
It was able to maintain 30-35 mph except up some hills where I also hit some patial head wind, overall the scoot ran real well and kept up the speed.
