I had an old Boost phone with 2 batteries that were worn out and not hold a charge that good . I often work out of town and need a phone for emergencies and keep in contact with my kids . I have 3 kids and the oldest 2 have a phone and we often text as I am not nerdy enough to be a Facebook junky like some of my friends are .
That was my wanting to install a 12 volt power outlet to keep it charged but lack of good place to look factory and did want my phone and cord to just hang nor have to buy an expensive mount for it .
I bought a Casio Boulder ( wanted the Ravine instead ) since its made to military specs and tough . Its waterproof and survived a drop from a 50 foot lift . The battery fell out but went back in and still worked . I do not have apps or a touch screen but I can take pics under water except salt water . I have an unlimited plan and still its stupid to not and pay by the minute or text plan . The battery lasts longer but needs recharging daily . I orderd the extended battery and wow I only charged it up upon getting it in the mail and its still at full charge 2 days later wow !!!! Old battery is 800ma and new 1540 ma and sticks out some what were stock was flush . It was a great buy at 5 dollars and might get a second to keep handy and store the original in a drawer .
The reason I went with military grade is my old Nextel " Bumble Bee " black and yellow rubberized still works but its a 2 g , no color , no mms or gps . I worked at places that requires using Nextel chirp for dispatch and still was able to dial out when needed . I ride year round and even in the rain if needed so water proof was a must have feature and do not want to put under the seat and expose to the heat from the engine in the summer time .
Yes I know about the Casio Commando 3 of my friends have it but I am not a touch screen geek and have a 4 core pc with 21 in LCD at home . Even the iphones , Droids and Blackberries are cumbersome to surf with compared to a pc . I have been online since 1988 long before AOL etc were around so the internet is not the new thing to me and no interest in Facebook etc as well .
So I would like to know what phone you ride with and why that one .
