Hey thanks Fred!
Yeah I figured the shipped oil was cheap garbage, on any such machine I would always replace any fluids that come with it, usually motors like air compressors Ive bought over the years dont have oil in them due to leakage in transit issues.
I knew this will need assembly, and yup Im inclined
Ive rebuilt a few car and truck v8 engines from the block up. When I was a kid I had a go-kart I used to mess with the engine all the time on, and then later in my teens I had a small Suzuki 118cc motorcycle I used as a dirt bike on the back roads.
I had use of a Yamaha 175 and rode a couple of larger ones back then, the scooter should be no trouble for me at all.
Ive read about the rubber and lines, and I figured the rubber wouuld be the cheapest stuff that gets brittle fast.
Ya want to dismiss things we buy as cheap chinese junk, but heck, EVERYTHING is made in china now anyway! I guess the only way to get a higher quality scooter is paying $2000 for a Honda, but then I'm not sure the quality would be $1400 better, I'd have to see both side by side- a mechanical type person like myself can easily spot trouble spots, bad design and inferior materials.
My ATM50 was $619 shipped, so I mean one cant really expect a whole lot of quality for the approximate $450 these cost- bet wholesale they arent more than $300, and a self propelled lawnmower costs more than that.
But I researched for reviews and really did not find much in the way of negative reviews, but LOADS of places selling them, and on Ebay, so if there were any major issues I would think there would be lots of negative reviews found in Google.
I'll probably ride it more than just to work, I'll get pics for sure
