Hi, Having some problems with my Aprilia SR50 scooter. Basically I drove it over to the garage for a new MOT and the next day they rang me and said they couldn't start it. They replaced the battery and plugs and still its not starting. They're now saying that there could have been wires that have come loose inside the engine and that the whole bike needs to be disassembled and they're saying its not worth doing it. Is there anything else that could be wrong with the bike other than this? Many thanks, Craig Attachments:

Hi Craig Welcome aboard Pleased to meet you Not worth doing?i cant say i believe them A question, does the starter turn over ? are you getting a good spark? im thinking it may be a bad EFI unit if both of the above are working well Aprilias are not easy for the DIY type of person due to all the high end features, water cooled , EFI, etc Take care and drive safely Yours Hank

Craig,
In my opinion I wouldn't give up on this scoot yet. That is a very nice looking scoot and Aprilia's are very good quality. Your scooter actually looks very similar to my Kymco 150cc Super 8. I don't think the problem is that serious and it might pay to give it more time and try to work through this. I just hate to see such a nice scooter scrapped for parts. However if you insisted on getting rid of it, I would be interested in it if you live fairly close to me.

WHAT!! Are you saying they put in a new motor and they cannot get it to start!!! There are no wires INSIDE the motor so they are the ones that messed it up IF YOU DROVE IT IN!!! And to put in a new motor they had to have it apart in the first place. They are giving you a song and dance. Get your scoot out of there and put up pictures of the top of the motor and everything they really messed your scoot up. pete

Take it to another shop that has qualified technicians instead of shadetree . Aprilia is a high end and its worth fixing and maybe only something simple . I hope its not the ecu .
