Hey Scoot Partners;
Today marks 3 months that I have owned my "MAGSTER" MD 150 T-6 (2006 model)...otherwise known as the "Fiji" and the "Matrix","Rakata","Baron"...etc, etc, etc. A "Clone" by name for the same frame, engine (157QMJ) & body style. I researched all that before I bought...it fit what I needed & the "Price Great".
This Scoot was a Birthday Present to "Myself" for my "75th" in June. My first "Scooter Birthday Present" was when I turned 15 and my parents gave me a CUSHMAN...Oh such a thrill & "Freedom" at that "Teen-Age" time. I cherished the Cushman and quickly learned how to maintain it...kinda simple then since it was 4 HP, kick start, centrifical clutch and chain drive. Kept gas in the tank and oil on the chain and me and my childhood Sweetheat "Scooted" everywhere in our small eastern North Carolina town...Like the song sez..."Those Were The Days".
Ah, how the world of Scooters has changed. Already knew that manual with Scoot would be worthless...and proved to be so. For that reason, I have been on Scootdawg, reading everything I can find about 150's. It has truly been a great "Education" about the system and what, and probably will, need "Fixin".
I just passed 625 miles on Scoot. Now got a "Fixin" that started at about 100 miles and I need "Scootdawg" thoughts about. Started hearing high squeeling, ratcheting sound fron engine area. Got worse so changed oil to synthetic at 240 miles...hoping it would help...nada. Took cover off and realized sound is coming from Cylinder Head Cover. I know that the area should be getting oil from the oil pump...but if not, could be causing parts to squeel. Here's my problem...the Importer has no clue...the Dealer has no clue...I asked how I could check to see if the oil pump is working...they got no clues !!! So, now I am on my own with a very "Senior Brain" about this rather complicated system compared to a Cushman.
I know you guys will help and I ask that you do one thing for me...be specific and detailed since my "Senior Moments" are quite often these days.
My daily country rides truly take me back to Cushman days and the Freedom of a two-wheel adventure.
Looking forward to hearing from "Y'all"...just "Bob" in NC
