I know if you have a low wattage bulb and go with too high of wattage you get the compartment hotter than designed and could also melt the plug . I asked my scooter dealer about doing this and he warned me on how some other customers had issues with using a higher wattage bulb than stock and they have not put a bulb like that in a CFMOTO . I am thinking I should be ok since its not going from 18w to 55w for example . Most of the time my headlight is perfect but I would like a lil brighter and further beam . I see better with a yellow hue and not so good with HID or xeon type , they look neat to see going down the road on another vehicle but the blueish white glares too much for me even more in heavy rain .
So has anyone here went from a 35/35w to a 40/45w ( 2nd number is highbeam ) and if so the results . I have a strong enough stator to push it and maybe a 55w but worry it might get too hot in the headlight housing . I also have two tiny helper headlights that widen the beam and thinking of putting in LEDs if I can find one that is not so blueish along with flashing LED tail light

Did you coat the bulb and connections with the electric grease to prevent corrosion from humidity ? So you drilled into the housing and not the glass lens right ?

....then got a oshram b20d, much frigging briter, but 9 bucks - its a different shape too. I'm also keen on brighter vision and good amount of flood when lighting is needed. I saw my coming new scooter houses a Halogeen like the one here-below. I think I'll soon replace it where the model or type allows it for a higher and yet cooler bulb otherwise its going to be a new kind of LED added inside the headlamp. But never install one that deliberately blinds the opposite rider or motorists let alone pedestrians. Have it dipped after 75m or focus it light a pencil-point beam that is straight ahead and not to either side, a 3% spread is normally within the allowed range after 150 meters. Highly Efficient, Long Life, Vibration Resistant, aaaand.. E-Marked meaning they are legal to use on UK and European Roads. EXTREME WHITE XENON H4 BULB
By refining the filling medium of tried and tested halogen designs, the inclusion of Xenon gas has meant considerably brighter bulbs are available. These bulbs have a blue color to the glass and project a brilliant daylight white light. They are rated at 3900K which optimizes both white light and excellent road vision H4 Xenon Max 55w upto 90% More Light on the Road ( Latest Technology ) High performance H4 Super Bright 55W bulb ideal for driving in Rain or Foggy Conditions for off road, display and competition purposes.

This bulb will optimises both white light and give excellent road vision through rain and fog bettery than any other Bulb. AllWeather H4 Bulbs
This design gives off a Soft Yellow Tint light giving improved Visibility in Poor Winter Conditions such as Fog andMist. These bulbs project a xenon light with a Soft Yellow Tint. Superb value High performance bulb which gives a superb intense and high power white light beam. Being 160/100W these bulbs offer superb vision advantages. Directly interchangeable with standard bulbs. H4 Philips X-treme Power +80% bulbs

I would think one is more than ample actually but two halogens illuminating from 35w each is pretty bright and is giving more brightness than the pupils can withstand however, some places do get utterly dark that even bats wished they had LED mounted on their heads...LoL
I do find the bluish LEDs a real put-off... they are very freakish and artificial for any liking. I prefer Xenon lighting thus far but they're rather costly in their kit esp. like those for the cars.
