Went to my Mom's yesterday, about 100 miles each way. She needed her lighbulbs changed and it was 45 out so we decided to ride the scooters. I bundled up with flannel lined jeans, long johns and a rain suit to cut the wind. Who ever said a rain suit would work to cut the wind was a 100% right. The only part of me that got cold was my hands. Since we just got our new to us scooters, it was the first long ride we have made. Awsome ride, as we were coming home I noticed the sunset like I never have before. For once we had no issues with the bikes, just with my hands cramping around my handlebars and being so cold I couldn't unbuckle my helmet. My husband has to check himself cuz his burgman will go really fast and he says it's hard to keep his speed down, I think he's just being a guy. Today we are venturing west to visit his mom and grandma. Weather is to be in the 60's here, so it should be a pleasant ride over county roads. No highways today. Missouri county roads were laid out following a drunk cow, so they are all curvy and hilly.

I never experience snow. I wish I can experience it even one day of my life. I dreamed of wearing winter clothes and yes I want to experience driving on snow..it would be a wonderful experience. Bad sad to say that would be hard to aim.

Today's ride wasn't so great. Well, it was a great day to ride and every thing was great until we were on the way home and went to pull into a convienence store to rest. My husband was behind me with a semi behind him. He tailgated my husband all the way thru town and then passed him on the right on a two lane highway, missed my husband by 6-8 inches and made him lay his bike down. We think he hit the windshild, but the trucker swears he didn't hit. The windshield is broken now. Thank God we have another one. As the trucker went by he yelled "Get the f out of the way". Several people besides me heard him yell. If my husband wasn't so concerned about his bike, he would have had some choice words for him too. The cops came, took a statement and radioed ahead and had the trucker pulled over and made him come back to make a statement. With any luck he will get a ticket for at least one of the 5 violations he made. All in all it was a great day for a ride. The evening sky was gorgeos coming home.

Ya, I got a 250cc scooter, because of that reason.. It allows me more things to do, in case of a tailgator. I can speed up and turn on my signal so the tailgator knows to slow down, or hit brakes lightly three times quickly and signal to let him beware. I was riding with my wife and me on a 250cc scoot and hers was a 49cc scoot. She was slowing down on a hill, so I slowed up and turned on my emergency lights, to indicate slow moving traffic. Holding your lane position is very important, even if moving slower than traffic, because they will try to squeeze you out of your lane position and you could end up crashing due to a tailgator.

Nice to know there are more people hanging around from misery. I know chaz12 is just a couple hops from me.

we are north of Columbia. The accident happened in Brunswick. Are you going to the rally in Eureka Springs Arkansas? We are going to try to make it down there for that. Sounds like great fun.

I am familiar with the area. I only have a 150.. so that would be one heck of a treck down there . I do have my kawasaki kz440 up and running now, just waiting on a new rear tire, if i can cheat and ride a shifty

My husband had a 150, but decided he needed more power to go the 8 miles to work each day. I took him down some county roads on the way to Moberly, and it was a blast. I think the rally will be an awsome way to meet like minded people that like to ride. Our kids are grown and out of the house now so this is a way for us to spend time together.

That's SO unfortunate to have somone that's SUPPOSED to be a profesinal driver to do that. I had almost the same thing happen to me today. Cruising up 93 in Nevada, A truck passed me and forced a car off the road coming the other way. I hope your hubby is OK. This idiot was doing about 80 MPH, I was doing 65

We are ordering the police report from when they pulled this joker over. If we can get the guys name and the company he worked for, we will lodge a formal complaint with his company. I really would like to have his head on a platter, but I fear that it's not gonna happen.

Very glad you folks are ok, but never tangle with a cager of any sort. A scoot ALWAYS LOSES in a conflict with a cager. ALWAYS move out of the way as soon as it is safe. Never mind what the laws may say, they won't keep you alive when a car or truck is in a hurry.
Riders get killed every day because they got in the way of someone in a hurry. It is NOT WORTH THE RISK. Slowing down on purpose in front of a cager is a very dangerous thing to do, DON'T DO IT. I ride my 250 Honda Reflex mostly on back roads. We get blown around too much by tail wind from cars and trucks on the hwy. But I always get out of the way as soon as possible if someone comes up on my tail. When I ride the hwy with my Silver Wing trike, I stay in the right lane out of the way of faster vehicles.
DON'T PUT YOUR LIFE AT RISK, GET OUT OF THE WAY AS SOON AS IT IS SAFE!!!!

I rode my reflex to work the other night. The ride to work was fine, but when I got off at 11:00 at night, there was frost on my seat. I had a very cold wet butt when I got home, but it was awsome to ride at night when nobody else is on the road. Don't worry guys, I followed one of my fellow employees to my turn off.
