Another thread with an interesting option posed in here and the alternatives have indeed got me pondering to this day as a matter of fact.
I have NOT the opportunity to experience my situation as yet as my next new scooter is soon ready for collection at the Dealer but I have in the meantime been trying to figure out how best to address the various situations I will soon face like most of you are already doing or have experienced and I only managed to browse, visit some accessories shop to get whatever I can or deem necessary and purchased it and hand it over to the shop so they can replace with what I bought.
Btw, in doing so, the work done for these replacements is not charged, more a service given for my custom and so, I'm still looking around to buy what needs to be bought SOON... LoL ;D
I have so far obtained the Battery Tender to be installed on board or inside the scooter, a LED lamp to replace the standard city light bulb type inside the headlamp and they were handed over the other day. In the meantime, I just received an online order I placed on Monday and it arrived yesterday from UK. They were larger rectangular sturdy mirrors I liked very much and a pair of finger (index) wipers for the visor. I'll be handing these over tomorrow when they open for business again. Meanwhile again, I'm still browsing for more items and this is where this thread caught my interest esp about the helmets .
Being the age I currently am in, I take my jolly good time stepping out or while after settling into my cockpit seat, and driving off some 4 or 5 mins later... is the norm and in so maintaining this pattern with no rush or having any haste with anxiety... heck, NOT anymore at this age unlike when I was in my 20s and 30s....
This prompted me on the option of carrying about the full size (XL) bike cover coz my "
Paso Doble" is outfitted with a full size taller windshield (I got it FREE as well in the order
and with that, parking outside, protected by this large canopy cover is my answer wherever I go with the scooter and leaving it parked somewhere out there... and why not?
Despite having the rear wheel chain-locked to a street lamppost if and when one is found where I wish to leave it, and the front disk locked as well with a 120db alarm and the whole scooter gets hooded or covered if you like... as now, I have all the time to go thru the rigmarole.... hahaaa, and I'm planning to do just that. I know most of you younger men don't have that kind of time or patience to go through such & similar relax motion with yr Chinese scooters!!! You want to
WOOT away as qikly as Clyde would after a Bank robbery.... LoL ;D ;D
This was getting to me actually as I was figuring out, B4 I ride off the scooter, I need to stack the cover somewhere after folding it up. But if it is wet or moist from a rain shower, I was originally planning to dump it in the back of the boot where my car is parked next to but then, my complete boot space belongs to my dog with her large diva bed laid out in there... and where I will be heading with the scooter, its NOT for errands or whatever. Just to go from A to B for dancing lessons for some 3 over hours a session and three times a week at three different schools with expensive parking rates for cars!!!.
Hence, carrying along the folded cover and again using it somewhere for a good worthy purpose makes more sense in utilizing it to the fullest... only time is of the essence and I have plenty of that, safely tucked under it, my scooter and staying dry should it rain again while I'm dancing on the ceiling inside the building....hahaaa.
We'd rather take along the nice new matching & identical helmets we bought too, inside. Not leaving it on the bike cos it has a license that requires helmets on and if the scooter gets nicked, it will be spotted soon enough and the Insurance will be slapped with the full Monty from my claim anyway but its not complacency that will make me anywhere less irresponsible, I'd rather go the mile in preventing to save the hassle of reliving the situation when dealing with claims, and no scooter option in the meanwhile etc.... but if it still gets nicked... that's Murphy to blame then.
;D
