Help! I have decided on a BMS 260TBX (latest version) My question is however, at 6ft 5ins would I be too large for this machine. My weight is 230lbs. I have tried sitting on a Yamaha Majesty and the problem is that the handlebars hit my knees when turning. Is there a possible workround to this problem. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated apart from amputation ..lol. As you can tell I'm a newbie.. Regards to all.

I have the earlier version, but I don't think the dimensions have changed. If you'd like I'd be happy to measure the floorboard to handlebar distance for you, and then you could compare it to the height of your lower leg. Let me know. I do know that my buddy who is also about your height sat on this without a problem, but you never know.

Thank you for your response Trailheadmike. I would like to take you up on your very kind offer. May I be so forward as to ask of you if you would be accomodating as to provide two measurements. One being on half lock of the handlebars and thee other on full lock measuring from the floorboards to the area of the handlebar that will be perpendicular. This would be most helpful and give me a greater insight as to the suitability of this particular machine.
Did you get your bike from online or a bricks and mortar company and what were your experiences in general re the process?
Thank you once again for your reply and I look forward to reading your reply.
Kindest Regards Nev

I got this bike used from Craigslist. The guy who I bought it from got it at a brick and mortar shop that had since closed. It is branded as the Xingyue Vog 260 imported by KMD, which as far as I can tell comes out of Canada. The TBX 260 is an upgraded and re-branded Vog. Whenever I've needed parts I've gotten them from BMS and they fit perfectly. The bike was a year or so old and only had 200 miles or so. If you search my name on the site you'll see that I had a number of stalling issues which after much tinkering all seem to have been the result of a loose wire going to the CDI. Since that was fixed she's run like a top.
As for the measurements, I'm a little unclear -- what are the half lock and full lock positions on the handlebars? Let me know and I'll send you the measurement.

Thanks for your reply Trailheadmike.
It was interesting to learn how you came by your ride.
When making my decision on the 260TBX I actually phoned BMS and had a good conversation both about the availability of the spares and my concerns about not being able to sit on or test ride their machine down here in Tampa, Florida. I have to say their customer services/Sales department were extremely helpful. However, I have to order through a dealer that they deal with as they will not sell direct. They recomended County Imports in CA.... but having read the feedback on them.... I don't know. Still have to make a decision on that should I wish to go forward with it. Is there perhaps an online retailer you could recommend?
Re: The measurements. I humbly apologize as I keep forgetting that as I have been transplanted to your shores from across the pond, there is the old addage.... lost in translation.
What I was trying in my very inept way was to describe the handlebars being turned half way in either direction as being half lock, and, fully in either direction as being full lock. I hope this is clearer now. Sorry for the description that I gave in my initial posting.
What I am wishing to know is that when the rider is sitting on the machine with his/her feet flat on the running board with their leg below the knee in a vertical position, the measurement from the running board to the handlebars that would be directly above the riders knee at the two stages of 'lock', thereby I can gauge the clearance that my gangly legs will or will not have. I hope that clears up my rather clumsy first attempt of describing this in the original post.
I ventured out yesterday and had a sit on a burgman 650 (I know it is a different ball game) and I did not have a problem with my legs getting in the way.... nice bike but out of my pocket. Besides I love to be able to do my servicing myself.
Once again thank you for your reply, and I look forward to yours.
Be Safe Regards Nev
