i have yet to see any one of these in the flesh so to speak, but , can you see the place and space in the steering components were the travel ( opening and closing ) is occurring ?
i would expect that it could be at the top and bottom of the king pins. i fthat is the case you might be able to disassemble them and shim the play down to near nothing using hard poly as shims.
depends on if the steering spindle brackets are welded in place or bolted up.
i'll try to see in some o fthe online pics.
i'd say that this slop in the steering could well be a main contributor to instability. a bad and sad sign for me, as i was kind of hoping the best of these till i started reading experiences on several sites.

OK, from what i can make out from pics on scooterdepot, there is a thru bolt from top to bottom of the kingpins that locates the steering brackets and the clevis's to the top and bottom control arms.
i'd think that the bearings in the top and bottom of the kingpin are not tightened enough by the thru bolts , and / or you will find them tightened to their fullest position and have excess play that needs shimming up.
to varify this, you may need to disconnect the control arms, the tie rod , and the brake line keeper on the back o fthe kingpin tube and remove the whole wheel, steering bracket and kingpin as a unit. i fyou do that. just pull up and down on the upper control arm clevis and see if that's where it is.
if so, see if tightening the thru bolt helps or just seizes the kingpin movement. if it helps, that MIGHT be enough, i fit seizes the movement you will probably need to shim them.
hope you get it worked out, steve

OK I alligned the 2 front wheels on the Sunny DF150 but when I jacked the front end up and pulled on the bottom and top of each wheel there was about 1/4 inch play. Could this be causing the stability problems and if soo what do I do to correct this so there NO play? Hi Sarge, Did you check to see that all of the bushings were inside the pivot points of the control arms? It wouldn't be a surprise if the factory left some out. See this video about the 6 min mark they show the bushing in side the pivot point. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnLs6GTEPs4It sure doesn't look like there is much slop in the video. Good luck Mike

You mean the bushing inside where the bolt goes through NOT the two plastic caps on each end? I thought they were there I watched that video about 6 times before I put it together. I lowered it to $1,000 FIRM and am getting some bites to call back!!!! Yep, if one of those are gone the bolt will just slop around.
