I ride a Burgman 400 back and forth to work every day at highway speeds (but not on a highway). It's about a 35 mile trip one way.
Anyway..I mention that because I have to ride home at night. I need a high vis jacket. I live in Florida so 80 - 100 degree days are common in the summer. During the winter I am looking at temps in the mid 50's but might be lower. Waterproof be good too!
A close call with a deer the other night and a friend going down on his back resulting in a broken collar bone got me thinking. I need a good jacket.
Problem is....I don't have $$$ to spend. Anything under $100 US that meets those conditions? Can someone recommend something?

I got a joe rocket armored textile jacket for $99 at motorcycle super store. Waterproof too! I wear mine in the summer (90*) and winter (20*).

If you already have a jacket that works well to keep you warm and cool and dry, you might be able to just get a high visibility vest to put on over it as well to save money.

I've a good bright yellow jacket that I wear day and night. Problem is it's not really a riding jacket or is it armored. Not that I'm planning on going down anytime soon, but after my close encounter with Bambi and a friends accident I'm thinking I need a better jacket and pants.

You can always cruise the local craigslist in your area for a used armored jacket that fits the bill. Just make sure you get an armored, vented one with a removable quilted liner for the winter and you'll be set. I have a Shift armored jacket with a quilted liner and I was able to ride when it was 35*F and it kept me warm the whole ride.

My guy, algears got this one in yellow. Mesh, windliner + thermal layer for 3 ways to wear it for $109. We love Cortech and the black on the jacket is leather over the armor impact area's for added protection. He got it in June and vented air very well in this hot SC summer. With the wind and thermal liners in, you stay toasty warm. The yellow is very visible and has reflective piping for night riding. Happy shopping! www.motorcyclegear.com/street/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/cortech_by_tour_master/gx_air_series_2_motorcycle_jacket.htmlThese guys are great to buy online from, fast shipping and should be free with this purchase.

This is the exact jacket that I have, only mine is bright yellow with reflective strips - it's wonderful in the warmer weather. Armored shoulders, elbows and tailbone (all removable) with zippered pockets up front. Very comfortable, but its a short jacket - so on a tall guy like me it feels uncomfortable off-bike, but wonderful while riding. Get a few sizes up from norma size you wear

Funny thing. I got the last 2X they had in this model. Wore it today for the first time on a nice 110 mile ride. I'm happy with it so far.

I understand this is an old thread, and was looking at the leather up mesh hi vis for $59, which seems like a good price and decent product. I do, however, think I will spend the extra to get this one from revzilla: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/firstgear-mesh-tex-jacketIt is $150, but is all hivis color and no black. I sweat like a swamp sow so on summer days the sun beating down on an even partially black jacket does not do much for me. This jacket also comes with a zip out liner so it is usefull more of the year which will make it worth the extra money for me.
