Hi,
I need to know where the wire connect, and how I can install one on my bike. Can the sensor be bought online? My bike doesn't have the wire, but it may have been removed by the previous owner.
I need to install one to restrict my bike to around 30mph.

If I am not mistaken the sensor is the same as the ignition trigger pickup sensor. But I must have a look at mine and check it,I have it and sitting on a shelf. If it is the same go here: www.scrappydogscooters.com/Replacement_Parts.htmlscroll down the page and it is referred as "GY6 ignition trigger pickup".It has one wire that is connected to the pink cable on the cdi,it ends in a bullet connector at the right side of the scooter,(well at least at my Baotian),about near the cylinder head rocker cover. If it is daggling free you will see it,if not, chances are it may have been blened in the loom with tape,to hide it.From a previous owner for example. Is it first hand yours,or have you bought the scooter second handed?

Thank you so much! So the wire actually connects to the ignition trigger?

No,it is the same type of sensor, but it works on another part of the engine. The clutch bell has a magnet on it.The specific sensor counts how many times the magnet passes from point the sensor is attached. When you exceed a speed that is preset from the factory, the cdi cuts out.The ignition trigger sensor,"reads" on the flywheel, the limiter sensor "reads" on the clutch bell.It just uses the same way of measuring, just as the ignition trigger,it just energises another part of the cdi.Same principle, other point of measurement on the engine, other cdi function By disconnecting the pink wire, you just "fool" the cdi that the scooter is not moving.

So how could I energize the cdi without the sensor? A small power source into the same pin on the cdi?

I am afraid you can't without the sensor...this wire "reads" pulses, which changes with the rpm of the bell. You can't emulate it.I would reinstall the sensor, they are cheap, and are attached to the cvt case with 2 screws.Piece of cake.
