My scooter is liquid cooled and runs cool all the time . I went to Cycle Gear and specialtl premixed coolant was 15 to 23 for half galon YIKES !!!
Should I let myself get gouged paying that much ? Any brand reccomendations ? I looked at some that blue and would be easy to see in my reservoir window to check level . I know my radiator and lines should only hold half gallon after drained so its really not too bad to pay extra once a year . Can I use automotive like Prestone providing it says ok for aluminum engines ? It almost never gets below freezing so no worry on that , but danged if summer is not 7 months instead of 3 like in ye olden days .
I was surprised reservoir was not under pressure like one on a car which can spit on you if careless . I was taught in Auto Repair that antifreeze never goes bad , it gets contaminates and diluted causing need of replacing it . We kept old coolant and sent it to get filtered for reuse . I am glad most added Benzine to make it taste bad to prevent injury from animals that may lick up any . Old stuff had sweet taste and was fatal even in small dosages .

Ya, I use just 50/50 in mine. Mine is green coolant, but color doesn't matter. Some will buy the more expensive stuff, but it rarely even gets to 10 below zero around here. They 50/50 mix is good to 145 below zero. I buy mine at Walmart.. ;D Attachments:

A 50/50 mix is good to -35° to maybe -64° F after that it will freeze. Here in Fla. we never have to worry about that, just the boiling point 260°, and if it gets that hot I'm moving back North. Alaskans use a block heaters to keep there engine from freezing.
