Ya, riding home from church today, I stopped at the end of the gravel drive on gravel. Cars were coming from both directions so I waited until it was clear. Well, when I could go on the 55 mph highway, I pulled back on the throttle to go, but the rear tire began to turn to quickly. I hald the scooter up right still, but since the rear tire was mostly just spinning on gravel, well it made getting out on the highway, slightly more difficult. Actually I had to slow down some and keep going forward with momentum.. By the time I got out on the highway, I was doing around 15 mph and notice a pickup off in the distance, behind me. So I speeded up quickly to 55 mph was fine after a few seconds. Loose gravel can cause a person to loose control and have a accident if not keeping good sense about the situation. I didn't have a accident but it reminds me of what can happen.. Attachments:

Good to keep in mind. I can lose traction on my scooter on a patch of sand or even a wet, smooth manhole cover. Need to pay attention at all times!

it was greasy pavement that looked normal, i came to a stop on it, but back tire swerved to the right.

Ya, it is a scarey feeling, when the rear tire slides... Nothing like a squirrely rear tire to make you compromise the integrity of yer undershorts.

I broke my collarbone crashing on a bit of loose gravel a couple months ago... got a nice poker on my shoulder now... anyone wanna hang there coat? As far as my rear tire sliding around when it is wet, I am pretty good at keeping it under control like a pro when its raining. Sometimes even coming to a stop sideways a bit

Yes gravel is slippery and street scooters are not off road toys . Best tip I can tell you is NEVER use front brakes in gravel and let the friction of gravel bring you to a stop rather than braking . You have to plan for it moving around while going through it .If your easy on it you should not spin . I have went WOT so it spins as my scooter is also my big boy toy as well as mode of transportation . I gave my x a ride and it was spinning even feathering the throttle back . So if you go through gravel travel slowly and be prepared to put your feet down to prevent a fall over just in case . I was going down a back road and ran over a tiny patch of gravel and the front end almost slid out of control . I am glad I have over 20 years of two wheeling , wheeew . I have even taken my GS 550 in the woods ( yes I know its crazy ) but I outran some 125s in the trails but I did not attempt to jump like they did . So if you have to go through gravel tae it nice and slow so you can enjoy scooting once you hit pavement . Its fun to be a lil dangerous , but more fun enjoying your scooter safely than getting hurt while being silly
