Took my scooter out for the first time today, after getting insurance at 8am just as the call centre opened. I needed to ride to school, something i usually do on my BMX, the journey is about 2 miles. It felt so good tearing down the road instead of pedalling franticaly and going about 10mph. The bike isn't set up perfectly yet, but it runs great at full throttle. My speedometer doesn't work, but from experience (motocross riding, riding on fields with GPS) it felt like I was topping out about 45mph, not bad for a 50cc with an upjet and performance exhaust. Got to school safely, feeling pretty damn cool Nobody in my school year (or 'grade' to you americans) has a moped yet, so they are all taking the bus or walking. Last year the older kids all had 2 strokes, like piaggio zips lc's and yamaha Aerox's, all of which did around 65mph. One guys zip did 75moh on gps! But anyway, I can't wait till my friends get on the road, I really wanna go for a nice long ride I did go for a little ride with a friend of mine who has a 150cc RMR supermoto bike, and he was nice enough to wait up for me ;D Can't wait till the weekend, so many places to go! I'm hoping to build a nice collection of photos with my bike in various different places and post them on here, watch this space! Thanks

Running wide open throttle on a new bike is BAD!
For shame, stressing that poor inocent little engine.

Running wide open throttle on a new bike is BAD! For shame, stressing that poor inocent little engine. Nope! Once the new engine is warm, the opposite is true - wide open throttle is the only way to grind the piston ring in properly: www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

50dude, Im sure you will have a great time on your new scooter. I wish I had one when I was your age. We lived in the woods and had 4wheelers.
Im a WOT driver as well. I just dont keep it WOT on a long flat stretch. You should change your motor oil and gear oil right away. Its very easy and a great thing to learn first.

It's not a new scooterm but new for me. I knew the guy who bought it from new, and he ran it in properly and always let it warm up.
To be honest it's hard not to go WOT on a 50cc, it's the only way of keeping up with traffic
