The local dealer is called vw company DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. They do not honor warranties and sell you a piece of junk a 5 year old could have put together better
Also Scooters Plus, a local dealer and "service shop" over prices parts, sells defective used parts at new prices. They also sell drug paraphinilia. They know nothing of scooters they just bolt on new parts. The "mechanic" had no clue what an ngk iridium plug was......

Hey Scoot Tech... this is a public forum and public perception can make or break your shop. While you are entitled to your opinion it may seem like you are bashing a competitor to get more business. Like it or not shops and businesses are held to a different standard than individuals. Just saying...
Good luck in your new business!

+1.....not an ethical posting If he were lying it would not be ethical. Why presume that he is lying? It is entirely possible that the shop he speaks of is incompetent and crooked, and he opened his shop to offer a good alternative; to fill a void in the market. His opinion is not invalid just because he is in the business (And lets face it- someone in such a business is not in it to get rich)- if he were going to lie, why single out just that one shop? I think OP's words actually carry more weight, because he isn't just complaining...but he DID something about it, to offer an alternative. I've been in similar situations myself, where i've seen such incompetence or crookedness, that I was tempted to open a similar business, just to do it right and drive the crooks out of business.

We live, breathe and work on scooters. We sell new parts and reconditioned parts to keep you moving. We service all types of gas powered scooters. No fluff, no bongs and we honor your manufacturers warranty.
Marketing...it's all about perceptions. So far 4 people of 6 are saying posting something like this is a turn off. Always take the high road when being the newcomer is my opinion.

i agree with gt. whether or not it was done in good conscience of a warning against a bogus dealer and "mechanic". the way alot of ppl would percieve it is as "bashing" the competition.

Ethical or not has little to do with truth. It's all about perception and following the invisible rules that govern our interrelationships.
Please re-read my post. I never questioned the guys's truthfulness. I just said it was perceived to be self-serving to post those words when he is technically a competitor.
Will a political ad that says "vote for me because the competition did this bad thing 10 years ago and is a bad person" actually make you vote for the former? For me, someone who stoops to the level of cutting down the competition in order to try to elevate himself is the one at the disadvantage.
As I said, it's the perception.
There is a reason huge corporations spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year on just marketing.
I *definitely* was not trying to attack Scoot Tech at all.

I brought this up originally because Google is becoming ubiquitous now. I keep up with internet searches on me and my companies. When a posting I made only yesterday shows up in the top 5 search results for "efi scooter" or "aeromodding scooter" then it DOES become a big deal for EVERY post you make on the internet. Especially on a site like ScootDawg that is so popular. Really, I'm just trying to help out. Greg

I agree with Greg. When I was in business, I always made it a point to never say anything bad about my competitors. In fact, I found that I almost always found the best way to close the deal when a custumer was wavering between my shop and a competitor was to say soming nice about my competitor. Now that typically was real easy to do because I was in the business of doing mosty show (or show off) vehicles and most of my competitors were too and really did do great work. I tried hard to be as good ar better and a bit cheaper. The bottom line is really simple, a bum shop soon gets well known as such without my help. As the saying goes--- You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of them all the time. Take the high road. Always. Do good work, say nice things and keep your customers happy. Big Big Job right there. Dam tough job on Chinese scoots.

You know, I never thought saying something about those companies would be looked down upon. This is my first business and ethics other than 'do a good honest job' are a little forigne to me. I'm learning though. There are 2 other scooter shops in town I know of now and have nothing bad to report about them. As for the paraphinilia, not funny or "cool" to call someone a drug user when you know nothing about them, I am a husband and a father of 2. I don't have room in my life for that kind of irresponsibility and total disregard of the law.

Calling a spade a spade, without fudging, is a sign of the caller's integrity...unless he were lying. Fudging what you know to be the truth, for whatever reason, would make one as dishonest as the person whom they condemn. Keep telling it like it is, Scoot Tech. Your candidness helps to illustrate your truthfulness. I youi were willing to fudge, thgen I would tend to think you were lying- but as you seem committed to what you said, even in the face of criticism and adversity, I would tend to believe you.
