I would like to know a little more about the speeds traveled and the mpg the scooter gets on such a trip. I give Jay a lot of credit for doing this trip and even with all the trouble the experiences and people met along the way can lighten the load quite a bit and make it a trip he will never forget. I am glad he took the time to savor some of the different flavors of life weather he was forced to or not. I must admit if I were to take such a trip it would involve 200 miles a day max. at speeds of no more than 45 mph and that would be on a new scooter that had been fine tuned and pdi'ed to the max. A bunch of short trips in one day. Good luck with the rest of the trip. Please be careful in the Keys. US 1 can be a really nasty road traffic wise and the 7 mile bridge if its windy.

I really admire anyone who takes a long trip on a small scoot. My first scoot was a cheap Chinese 150. I had nothing but trouble with it, but I did learn to ride and pass the state motorcycle test. (The scoot dropped dead immediately after the test, right in front of the DMV!! My husband had to come and rescue me with his truck).
After that my husband insisted that I buy a more dependable scoot if I wanted to continue riding, so I bought an 04 Honda 250 Reflex. I love my flex, it is a great and dependable ride. However we are not heavy enough to ride the hwy. I get blown around too much, cars and trucks like to send me flying off the road. So for long hwy trips, I bought an 08 Honda Silver Wing.
I am much too short and small to ride the Wing, so I had training wheels, (a Tow Pac trike kit), installed on it. I have taken several long trips on it. The longest was a trip from south eastern CT out to Michigan in the summer of 2011. The Mod Quad, (the Wing) worked beautifully. My only problem is the trike wheels are too small and had to be replaced when I reached MI. I am considering a Gold Wing for a cross country trip in 2013. Don't want to worry about replacing the trike tires at least once and probably twice on the trip.

I saw this guy take a real butt kicking at another site.
morons and fools baiting him while he is on the road and tired.
i really hope he is doing well, and i am sure he is a lot older and a lot wiser for his journey.
GO JAY!

So........... is the trip over? Did he finish it or win the bet with the new motor?
GPS shows he has been in Florida City for over a week, the GPS update is a week old. Looked for updates on other forums but 49cc he wasn't on there long and can't find a thread anywhere else. He hasn't updated his blog, the last audio "can't be found", and he hasn't been active anywhere for a while. Sounds like he was dishing out a lot of negativity and then getting it back at the same time.
Just wondering if it's over and the result. Who won the gas card?

I'd say 21k miles could be done in about 100 days.

21,000 miles? What scooter is going that far ever, let alone back-to-back in a few months?
