Just published the latest SIR's blog entry about riding 500 miles to Silver City, NM in order to ride Route 78. I went with Lori Powers, another "Rider." We had a blast. Pics and video included. Enjoy. skyislandriders.com/?p=1127Howard

Howard - I love the description and photos. There is so much more greenery there than I would have suspected. In the areas over 6,000 feet, are you in a pass (defined high point) or more like high plains? I live in the Northeast and wish to someday ride the Southwest.
Keep it up! - Fabini

On this ride, there was a combination of passes and high plains. Tucson is about 2000'. As you go east on I-10 you are steadily climbing until about 4000' and it stays there. Going north toward Silver City there are small ranges of mountains.
If you read my previous ride report about AZ's high desert country, there are high plains around 7000'. Without fuel injection, my bikes don't care for anything more than about 6500'.
Send me a note if you ever get out this way. I can direct you to some good riding areas.

I agree, that was a very cool video.. There was not much traffic in Arizona.. I live in Missouri, where there is alot of country back highways 55 mph.. I own a Roketa Bali 250( has a 172 mm engine in it 244cc engine Honda clone). It was neat watching you turn and zig zag.. Almost gave me a rush too.. LOL

It was just a long wways from me, but i didn't let that stop me. Howard
