My TaoTao seat gets so hot I sweat and I hate it . I have never had a scooter where the seat gets hot like this . I know the foam is thinner than Honda etc and seat bucket is thin plastic .I am thinking about installing insulation under the seat since its bowl shaped underneath and will not interfere with storage capacity . There is also two holes under the seat that maybe letting heat pass through . I can feel temperature differences when under a load or coasting . This might be great in winter but not at all when its not even hot outside . Items stored under seat are hot too ,but I only have tools and scooter paperwork . My engine does not seem to be running hot and oil level good , and I normally cruise below max speed unless on highways . It seems hotter on front of seat so I sit on very back on passenger section and put my feet above the floor , the edges are cut off so its like highway pegs on a motorcycle . It looks goofy but quite comfy for a 6ft4 guy on a shortcase . Spray foam is gonna be my first mod since cheap , easy and removable if desired .I am only going to fill up cavity under seat and apply a layer on bottom of storage bin . I do not want to spray underneath seat bucket as it may come off . I think if I get insulating material in sheet form I can glue it to seat bucket bottom .
Below the front of seat and above the floor should I drill holes or cut a vent ? If I go vent I think putting a piece of window screen would be a good idea to keep out stuff . Behind the front wheel on bottom of body there is a curved piece thats solid . I think a vent there will help and not ugly up my scooter . I take care of my stuff and do not want to "redneck " it like no muffler etc .
I know an oil cooler will help alot but where to mount it seems like a custom job . Prices of oil coolers are 50 to insane . I like this one even though its small , but it has a spin on oil filter which I think it neato.
reliablegokarts.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=688 . Im not thrilled about having a screen instead of filter . I have always changed oil before it gets bad since oil is cheaper than new engine in all my rides .
After warranty expires ( 6 months woohoo , most dealers here only have 30 day ) I plan on using a holesaw to drill out exhaust tip and simply weld a larger tip . This should sound more like a 4stroke ( deeper tone ) and run cooler with less restriction and not be too loud
