Well Mike was on his way over to my house and broke a chain on the way over. I hooked up the trailer and went and got him. What we discovered was after Mike completely overhauled his rear gear box the rear sprocket didn't quite line up with the front sprocket. So we took the 2 bolts off holding the rear sprocket and it's adjustment off. The two spacers were about 1/2" too shallow. I cut some wider spacers out of hardened steel tubing that matched the original perfectly. Mike got a 10 foot chain from the local co-op ($20 I think) and a couple of link connectors. We cut it down to the original size with a grinder...it made 2 of them (so he now has a spare too). Also had to get 2 longer bolts to account for the wider spacers on the sprocket. All of this worked great. The chain is now centered on both the front and rear sprocket. He lost alot of noise he used to have. I'll be checking my Magnum today for sprocket alignment. I've got a couple of pictures and when I download the camera I'll post them here.

WOW!! Lucky it happened by you and got it fixed up and aligned right away. Back home Mike likes to take long 50 or more mile rides and would be stranded for some time. Good job Lee.
Did you check if the miss alignment wasn't caused by the whole axle being cocked? In to much on one side which would cause to always steer more to one side or the other. Lefty

Hello Leeinark,
Great info! I have the same problem with my trike. I was able to move it just a bit, but it's still off. Was not sure what to do next so this info comes in handy. Thank You!
Looking forward to the pictures.

Lefty typed up a whole big deal yesterday and as luck would have it when I hit post it crapped the bed. Short of it yes I agree he may have had a slight mis-align.

Ah Schucks Mikey you're gonna give me the big head! Plenty of improvements that could be made to these scoots. As an old muscle car guy a porting of intake exhaust would yield significant numbers I think. If we had access to better cam and cyliner boring whew... All in all I still think its easier and probably cheaper to just swap out a hot running used ATV motor which I'll probably do down the road.

Good job guys, sh!t if i was down there we would be in the shop all the time doing this and doing that. One thing you guys should write up a Where Everything IS with Pictures. People with the 300s are asking WHERE is the TRANNY FILL and DRAIN HOLES, Grease fitting etc..Anything that you feel is an important thing that a person would need to check now and then and or do maintence on. Mike: Well that explains all of the damaged things. Lefty that's not a bad idea and I might take it on. I need to find a nice engine schematic first though and just put locations with arrows and then add fluids (amount and type).
