My nephew ( 23 years old) rode my wifes Yamaha Zuma 49cc scooter as I rode my 250cc Bali scooter. They clouds looked fairly dark out in Belle MO today. He wanted to go riding about 7 miles out of town toward another smaller town where they highway turns into a gravel road. So I went first and was putting along at 45 mph so I could stay infront of my nephew and keep my eyes on him. Well, I stopped on a hill and said, The sky looks dark and it could rain.... My nephew said, Keep going...I speeded off going around 50 mph but slowed up because my nephew had a steep hill to climb. As I looked back, my nephew was passed by the UPS truck and so I than speeded up to 60 mph. The UPS truck became smaller and I came to this smaller town. Well it started to sprinkle as I waited on my nephew. He said, We best get back. He started out first but slowed down on a small hill to around 20 mph.. So I passed him and rode 60 mph all the way home. It did not rain on me, but my nephew was stuck riding 20 mph up hills and cars behind him. He came home in the rain.. Has anyone else experienced this type of situation.. LOL

Nope, sadly I don't have anyone to ride with, but it sounds like he didn't have a very fun time.

Ya, it was not a terrible down pour. My nephew got a little wet, but not soaked. He said, scooting is fun but he needs a bigger one to go faster. I told him, Ya, I did not see no reason for both of us to get wet. I am the only person with a Bali 250 around here. There are people with 49cc, 150cc in Belle. See them out quite ofter.. But no one likes riding together, just for fun.. It is safer riding in a group, than as a single person. A motorcycle group wants me to ride with them. I would prefer to ride with more scooterist, as opposed to motorcyclist. But there are plenty of people to ride with.. Gasoline probably stops most riding for the fun of it. They depend on the scoots as a source of cheap transportation.

Its been a very busy rainy season so far here in South Florida. Today I went for a 10 mile ride on the Royal Enfield and then another 10 miles on the Honda Rebel. Beat the rain so far but its clouding up now. Getting ready for our daily afternoon rain. Late this afternoon the scooter will go for its 10 mile run after the streets dry up. I don't mind getting wet but the rain storms here can be very heavy. Short but heavy. Sideways sometimes. Not the most fun.

Ya, hear Key West is pretty nice. Sort of like Hawaii. I still think that would be a trip to ride around the island.

Key West is pretty cool. We have been there many times. Its only about 200 miles south of us. US 1 is the only road in and out and it can be very dangerous. An accident can hold up traffic for hours. The 7 mile bridge it a total trip. No place for a 50. Key West and Stock island offer a great getaway and a 50 is right at home there.

For scootin I would rate Key West a 6 out of 10. A small island and residential for the most part. mundane
If you add PARTY plus scootin, then a 9.5 for Fantasy Fest or New Years Eve in Key West plus scootin.
For PARTY in the streets only Mardi Gras in NO comes close to Key West.
For pure scootin, I would take Cozumel or Cayman Brac in February.
Still hate that 120 miles from Key West to Homestead
Lost 1 ... or was it 2 ex's on that return trip.
What ever,,,,,,, if you have never done it........ GO !

Afternoon rain stopped, dinner is cooked, and now its the scooters turn. Only 18 miles and in a little rain but well worth it. My first trip to Key West was in 1963. I was 12 years old. I watched a Cushman scooter do a burn out and was hooked from then on. Fort Lauderdale in the 60's was only a sleepy beach town except for the "season" At 14, with a Honda Cub 50 my friends and I would ride all the way to Palm Beach and back. Sometimes putting 150 miles on in a day. This was on 35 mph speed limit roads. Now at 60 years old I don't need the parties and I have seen enough nude people to last 2 life times. I just go for the ride now.

There are a number of scoot riders here in SE CT, but none of them seem to want to ride in a group either.
Went for a wonderful 40 mile ride this morning. Took scenic RT 169 north up to Cantebury and came back. The weather today is just beautiful. It was about 70 degrees with no humidity and a lovely breeze.
If we didn't have to go to a wedding this afternoon, I would have ridden up to MA for the day. Too bad tomorrow doesn't look as good as today weather wise.

Jerryg, look for a Mods v. Rockers run in Ft. Laud. in early Dec. We have done a few and its a blast with vintage scooters and motorcycles. Google it. Of, course anything on 2 or 3 wheels are welcome.

Ya, went for a 30 mile ride today. Going back routes 55 to 60 mph.. I wish more people would ride with me on 250cc scoots and up.. Since riding alone most of the time, I ride with my cell phone, so in case of emergency I can get a hold of help. But right now, wife is in Massachusettes at a funeral, son's Bronco is stuck about 20 miles from here, I me at home in Belle MO still babying my ankle after surgury.. I actually left with my wife and made it as far as New York State, than my wife turned around and came all the way back to pickup her mother. I stayed the second time, because my ankle was getting pretty sore. Saw Lake Erie off the Pennsylvania coast, saw Lucas Stadium home of the Indianapolis Colts, ect.. I am from San Jose California origanally and my wife from Lowell Massachusettes..
