You cannot see in the sight glass because it is FULL. When you can see a clear part of the sight glass then you know it is getting low. Do not let it get Half way down the sight glass. Are you in a very hot area, 20w50 is kinda heavy, just about everyone uses 10w40. Also if it is broken in then us synthetic at least 1000 miles. Lefty

ok i can go exchange it. its 20w 50 mobile 1 v twin synthetic. it is hot here in memphis i cant remember the last day under 95!. the dealer put almost two quarts in it when we picked it up originally but on the side it says .8 liters so is it too full? .8 is less than a quart right?

Just drain it and measure out .8 liters and then put it in watch the Sight Glass. Keep putting it in until the sight glass is covered. Then you will know who is correct. Lefty

Forgot something again. Get motorcycle oil, car oil has stuff in it that can make the clutch slip.

Yes, if its a wet Clutch you have to use the right kind of oil for it.

It took 2 1/4 qts to cover the sight glass..how do i know if its a wet clutch? Also i hate to be negative but when we picked the bike up originally and after it had been test driven the dealer had to add 1 3/4 qts of oil! When i changed the oil the drain plug barely came off because of metal shavings and the inside of the plug had quite alot in it;( is this normal or is it just a problem waiting to happen?

Doesn't sound good to me. There shouldn't be any metal shavings. Maybe a small amount from the rings seating, but not a lot.

Chopper I use 5w-30 synthetic in my Magnum. I agree with others small amount of shaving on 1st oil change is acceptable. I would probably change out early and recheck for metal shavings.

Hi guys, I bought the Snow Leopard, which is the twin to the RW except for the forks and all that dang chrome! I'm doing the PDI myself, very slowly, cause I know NOTHING. Reading these forums has been a God-send for me. I put on the front wheel, that was tricky cause I don't know what all those "terms" mean, lol. Anyway, got it on correctly but had to use a "same thread" off nut which is too deep. The one which came with the bike was lost in shpping obviously cause there was a whole in the bottom of the crate and fork was off support. Anyway, do I hold down the left brake to crank. All electrical works, tries to crank but hasn't yet. I'm afraid to try too much. I changed all fuel lines and clamps. I'm proud as punch over that! I hope I'm not being a nusiance here. You guys are great! Harleyann1

There is NO service manual I have found yet for these bikes. The supplier is trying to locate one for me, yet right! and the Owner's Manual, written my some Chinese dude with his reverse English, is very hard to read and/or understand and many of the photos are incorrect. Harleyann1

HA: Yes lock the hand brake to start the trike. With an auto scooter it would be a good idea anyway.

HA: Just re-read your post. Make sure you have spark (from plug...you can get a spare plug put it in the wire and ground it to the frame then try to start) Got Spark? Second check that fuel is going into the carb...I would shoot a little starter fluid in top of carb then try to crank. It should fire right up. If it doesn't stay running you have a problem of some kind and depending on what it does we can go from there. Last to check would be unobstructed air flow to the carb. iF YOU HAVE AIR FLOW, GAS FLOW AND SPARK IT SHOULD START. If the valves are adjusted right. If not it still may not start.

Thanks guys TONS. Gonna try all that again this weekend. The bike tries to start so I think plug is ok but gonna test it anyway. I'll read more on cking the air flow. I've been reading your posts about those adjustments. I'll let you know how it goes. Harleyann1

Got the bike cranked today. One of the fuel lines was crossed. I replace them one at a time and assumed they were in the right place. Imagine that!! Changed the oil, took 2 full quarts, no dip stick nor glass, just measured out the "MUD" that was in it. Now for the gear oil!! I'll let you all know. Front brake not working though, gonna bleed it again tomorrow after putting more fluid in the master...laters Thanks tons.. Harleyann1
