So I was coming home from a job interview. And decided to stop by my parents house to tell them it went great. Slowed down to take the turn into the park and my rear tire caught on a bit of loose gravel and I went down.
Smashed my right shoulder into the concrete and my helmet slammed down hard.
I broke my collar bone and the helmet saved my life. Its ruined but did its job perfect. So I grab my phone and call my mom tell em to call an ambulance and come help me.
Taken to the ER and xrayed. Showed the broken bone. But ill be ok.
Out of commission for 6 weeks until it heals. Be happy when I can get back on and ride again.
So I have to let everyone know... wear that helmet. I was close to death it was that hard of a hit. And ride safe people. Accidents like this are sometimes impossible to prevent as I saw no loose gravel but it was there.
Lots of miles and smiles to ya.

Ya, crashing on loose gravel can be hazardous. I had foot surgery a few months ago, still in a cast boot. Rode my scoot 1 mile, a few days ago. It has been sitting. But anyhow, I had to ride on a gravel road and through grass. Nothing makes me more nervous about this. But I am still ok just got to be careful around gravel.

Glad to hear you (and your scoot) are ok. Were you wearing a full face, 3/4 or half helmet?

My shop entrance is at the bottom of a STEEP AND CURVING gravel driveway. I normally tell the renters to leave the scooter upstairs, at the street level and I'll go up and fetch it. Sometimes I forget to tell them or they forget, and scooter newbies (many whom this is their very first time on a scooter) are riding the scooter down to the shop entrance to return them. When I hear the scooter and hear the tires on the gravel, I feel like a nervous mother hen waiting while they make the turn around the corner of the building. Several weeks ago I laid my own scooter down when I was just coasting down the driveway at less than 2mph. I locked the front brake without meaning to because my mind was somewhere else, and in 1/2 second my scooter was on the ground, with HUGE gouges on the black rocker panels, which I had JUST REPLACED from Scrappy only 2 weeks before. Damn.
I'm glad you weren't hurt more seriously. A broken collar bone is nasty, but it could have been alot worse. That's one reason I require helmets for all rentals and provide them free with each sale. Safety first!

I was wearing a full face helmet. And it was not that much loose gravel really, just a few rocks on the road that I could not see and I just happened to hit them in the right spot and down I went.
Dad threatened to sew me into the chair to stop me from moving around. Im going stir crazy

in three days watch for more serious problems.
if you have none be thankful, as a crash does not reveal it self for a couple of days.
and we all do wish you well.

Sorry to hear, glad to hear u r ok. I slipped on a turn in heavy rain a couple months ago and went down hard but luckily I only received a huge bruise on my left hip and a scrape on my knee and light scrape on my elbow. I was wearing a FF helmet and a lightly armored motorcycle jacket. The helmet helped me and the jacket. I recently bought a pair of armored motorcycle pants that I will wear going forward. I see people around hear wearing shorts and tank tops with no helmets on their motorcycles and I think they are crazy.

Post up some pictures of the helmet if you can. Nothing like wrecked helmet pics to convince people to wear gear. Well, that or a handful of teeth. Hope you heal quickly.

I would but my phones usb cable wont work I took it outside and hit the helmet with a hammer rather hard and no damage. But the crash actually cracked it so that can give you an idea.

Be glad yours has attached! Almost 8 weeks out from my lowside and my collarbone has yet to re-attach. After showing people the pics of what was left of my full-face helmet, 3 skid lid owners switched to full-face.

Great news, I was able to lift my arm over my head yesterday so I am making great progress on the healing so far, might be able to get back to work soon. WOOT!! ;D

I have almost full movement but the bone still moves too. I plan on doing a test run with the figure 8 brace on to see if I can ride to work once my clip-ons come back from the machine shop. Keep healing quick!

Do not wash in washing machine or place in dryer. Lay brace flat on a towel to air dry. Do not squeeze or wring out brace. glad to here you're healing pretty fast! hope this helps

I washed mine multiple times on delicate. No problems so far. It does get a "nice" scent after a couple of days...
