Well Mike from Florida arrived today and we did a quick comparison. His LED brake lights are bigger and my rear rack is bigger. I'm blue and he's silver...other than that trikes are about the same. However with my new motor I can now burn rubber if I hold the brake just a little before launch...ha-ha. Anyway we just sat around and talked about Lefty for about an hour. Thought about how nice it would be to host an Ice Bear trike fun run here in Ozark AR. Maybe ride up to Branson together or Hot Springs. Now lets suppose Mike and I were to host a SCOOTER TRIKE REUNION. Would we have anyone out there willing to come and go for a short ride to a nice campground. Camp out for a night or so. Have a little cookout. Then a "liars convention" around a campfire??? If wehave the interest maybe I'll put one together for early Sept.

Mike and I had a discussion on the new Magnum with the shifter on it. We have come to the conclusion that this change is not for the good. Mike looked at one just before he came and told me there is a lot of slop in the shift it self. It has catasrophic consequences when (notice I say when not if) the shifter allows the gear box to come out of gear or even slightly misaligned while driving. It is my opinion (and its my opinion only) that if this trike is not locked (or modified to hold shift better) into forward it is a nightmare waiting to happen. At the very least I would go to a lawn mower shop and buy some heavy duty springs to ensure the shifter (ie gearbox) stays where you put it. If anyone has done a major look at the new Magnum (owns one) please share with us your observations of the tightness (or lack of) in the shift mechanism.

Great observation on the Shifter by you two guys. And yes probably a heavier spring will keep it in forward gear so as not to pop out. It is no WONDER MY EARS WERE RINGING, you two DUDes were talking about me FOR AN HOUR, Damn!! . I just hope it was in good light and humor Have fun guys and BE CAREFULL OUT THERE . I agree that changing the design and putting the shifter on the side of the trike may not have been a good idea. They also changed it to a transmission instead of a lockout on the differential. There is indeed slop at the shifter side and that needs to be eliminated. Because of the slop the transmission is not being fully engaged. I am working with a customer now on this is issue by email and phone.

Well Jim your as always right on target.....But the price is right and it just takes a owner that is willing to work out these issues. Now I got to get out and try to line my rear up enough to get ride it out to Lees place so he can help me lift the big hammer to fix it right. May havw ro shave the spacer a tad on the rear sproket..

Jim: If you look at the springs that go on a riding lawn mower (the ones that hold the the mower platform under the frame), I believe they might just do the trick to force the shifter to stay in the position you put it in. I thought about putting one on my Magnum to keep the forward position in snug and tight...but I have never used my reverse so locking it out was just to easy. Actually the best thing would be to make a hydraulic cylinder to fit and shift using it. A lot of fabrication required though...but definitely the fix. vr, Lee
Roy: If it's convenient for all I could choose a different time frame...maybe early in march 2012?? No comments yet from others.

Mike thanks for the way too kind comments. Yeah my "mancave" has alot of my time in it. Hopefully we can get you "SQUARED" up on the alignment. I forgot to show you my plug in antique Dr Pepper sliding top cooler...and it works too. If you and Lefty lived in Arkansas I'd try to open up a shop for us to sell these little trikes. vr, Lee

Lefty: If you don't do something, you just sit around and get old...right?? I think I'm doing more and harder work since I retired. Only difference is when I do want a day of doing nothing I can take it any time I want.
