Hello,
The other day I bought a used 50cc Jonway (4000 miles).
Wow, it's really a lot of fun to ride. ;D
So far I've changed the motor oil and the gearbox oil and inspected the air filter. The drive belt was changed 1000 miles ago and it came with a spare. A few other things to check.
When I apply the front brake there is some play in the front end, just gotta get a wrench to tighten the steering head nuts it looks like. That will be a project for Monday. It took me some time figuring how to get to the steering head. It's not falling apart so a couple of days shouldn't hurt.
It runs great, getting 76mpg.
Well, just thought I'd say hi for now.

I had tons of fun with it till the other day. Someone stole it. . I figure I'll give the cops a week to find it, fat chance, even though it's no mystery who the local thieves are. I normally kept it locked up but got stupid one time.

It looks like I shall be returning to the scooter world shortly. I have a new 50cc China-scoot on order, will be ready for pick up in a week. Rather then buy online and deal with setting it up myself I went with a local guy. I talked to one of his customers who is very happy. This time I shall exercise due diligence and keep it secure. Perhaps even in the near future I shall be able to contribute to the forum in a meaningful manner.

I just bought a Chinese Benzhou Saga 50cc Retro look. I love it. Came with alarm, and chain lock. This thing does 70 kph now and they are going to upgrade the CDI to a better performance one so it should get close to 80 kph Thats 45mph to 50 mph for you americans. I am in Canada. will post pictures when i have some

My scooter should be here today or tomorrow.
The wait is too much.
I know it's just a China-scoot but if it's half as much fun as my last scooter then I shall be totally happy cruising around town with no destination in mind.
May the Scooter Gods shine down and bless this child with reliable performance.
Pics to come:

Update:
I got the new scooter, thought I had bought a good enough cable lock, but I didn't. It got stolen about a week after I bought it.
I got lucky and found it in the bushes down the street.
I told the cop that in the future I might keep a gun under the seat so maybe if it gets stolen again they might actually take an interest. The cop didn't like that, but hey, I don't get paid to make friends. Sometimes people need a nudge.
It wasn't damaged too badly. Needed some wiring work to fix the botched up hot wire attempt.
Went to the local hardware store and bought 6 feet of the thickest heaviest (beat a POS over the head if caught) chain and the best lock they had.
Overkill is better then walking.
So, anywho, the scooter now has 750 kilometers on it. The oil has been changed twice. The valves have been adjusted to .004. Next oil change is coming up soon.
I have a spare set of rollers (NCY 7g) and a Powerlink belt from monstergy6.com, maybe a few more spare parts are in order. I will be ordering from them again in the future.
Since the weather has finally started to drop below the 90F mark the scooter has much more 'get up and go'. Need to look into airflow/jetting.
This scooter is a keeper, gets great gas mileage and is a blast to ride.
A 63cc BBK with some other upgrades are in my plans.
Just an update.
I hope you are all enjoying your scooter as much as me.

Man, 2 scoots stolen just like that. Sounds like you need a lawn chair and a shotgun... But that might get YOU trouble with the cops Vehicle theft has one of the lowest clearance rates of all crimes

It's been a while since I posted here. My scooter now has 2700 kilometers on it. It sometimes bugs me that the speedometer and odometer are both metric when I live in an old school "miles" country. But anyway, the scooter runs great. After all the 'miles' put on it I finally ran across one of them radar speed display things put on the road. It indicated 27 mph with the little (tiny) mph on my speedometer showing just a tad over 30. I guess that means my speedometer is more accurate than I thought. In these colder months I can run this baby at over 60 kph on level ground no problem (according to the speedometer) and I get 108 miles per gallon (after converting according to the odometer). I figure with a 20% error of the speedometer and odometer I'm still doing quite well with my Chinascoot. I would "guestimate" top speed on level ground to be 35 miles per hour or slightly higher. This Scooter is a keeper. I did have some starting problems about a month after I bought it. Traced it down to the fuel enricher/choke, replaced it and no problems since. This thing was purchased to save money but now I find myself aimlessly scooting around town because it is just too much fun to ride. I used to own a Harley but this puppy is almost as fun to ride. Just letting the peeps know about the Chinascoot fun I'm enjoying. A couple thoughts for other noobs: 1: Look it over and fix what ain't right. My fuel filter was installed backwards. Fix other problems you find. 2: Regular maintenance. Change that oil on schedule and tighten anything loose. If you follow simple guidelines your scooter should perform well. This scooter has easily been the best 800 bucks I ever invested, the cost of gasoline and car insurance over just a few months has passed the cost of the scooter. But anyway I would also like to wish a Merry Christmas to all.

Billparadise@ Im glad you have been able to hold on to that scooter. You seem to have figured out the key to enjoing your GY6, simple maintenance. I think it would be frustrating to have a speedo in KPH, glad mine is MPH. Happy Scootering.
