I had a Wolo kit I got years ago in a failed attempt to give my moped presence on the road. Gave up after not finding a place, or wanting, to carry a battery around, not to mention nowhere ideal to mount them on a moped frame
It dawned on me that a scoot is a good candidate; battery and plenty of room under the front shell.
I spent about an hour from idea in head to kit buttoned up out of sight. Pushed the horn button. Whirr.Whirr.Whirr
I remember the relay I didn't connect, due to inability to find instructions.
Spent a good part of the evening googling horn relay. Will have to try it in the morning

I have a wolo on my scoot and there is a great tutorial on how to install one with a relay. Give me a minute I'll find ya the link.

It took me another couple days to memorize (my phone only calls/texts). I kept thinking I could get by with the pump ground pigtailed with the button negative. Apparently not the case. Got it working, except the cap on the short horn was missing so it sounds more like a bubuzela! I'll still accept that over the oem feeble. I'll look into finding or making another cap, maybe even experiment with trumpet lengths and cone radii. This also makes a good lead on a voice chip, it'd have to be gentler on the delicate parts

Ya, air horns are a loud horn.... I thought of that too. Or a semi horn... Write on the back of your scooter," I am horny".. Just for laughs..

i have the 139dB stebel airhorny. ..it's freakin' loud!!..and it drains the battery really quick, i don't use it that much cuz it might fry my stator.,,, it requires 20amps current...that's a lot gosh! warning: this horn is not a toy.

did you install a fuse near the battery on the line that supplies the horn relay? if not, do so immediately. fires under your ass can suck real bad real fast. also with fuses you can figure out how much power you draw. start at 10A if it blows after holding the button down for 20sec, go 15 test again after charging, go 20 if needed then. then you will be fused as low as possible and as safe as possible. even better if you have an ammeter that can handle 20A check it and see what actual draw is, then go to the next size fuse. the weasel has an EE degree... trust me, solid advice here. be safe. i have the 139dB stebel airhorny. ..it's freakin' loud!!..and it drains the battery really quick, i don't use it that much cuz it might fry my stator.,,, it requires 20amps current...that's a lot gosh! warning: this horn is not a toy. if the horn is a full 20A (its not) the batt is a 3AHr or larger. math follows. 3Ahr*60=180A/minutes 180/20=9 so it would take 9 minutes of horn blasting to take a 3A/hr batt from 100% to 0%. however, the batt cant handle a draw extended like this. it would probably overheat. if your horn sounds like it is quieting in a few seconds it may just be that fresh electrolyte is not getting to the plates fast enough or some other weird battery chemistry thing. BLAST away! you have plenty of reserve. and the stator charges at about t3A so within minutes 10-30 seconds of blasting power will be replaced.

thanks revyweaselly!, my 250cc scoot battery is rated 8.6 amps. YTZ10s. i think these airhorns are good to install out of the box and with no additional fuse required, (but, might be a good insurance to install a fuse).. a normal person would use their horns maybe 2 to 3 times on a 1-2 seconds interval, nobody really blow their horns more than 5seconds. so i guess these airhorns won't put your scooter in any risk if used properly...
but if you live in manhattan NY, you might use it every minute, every hour, ,,with those bad taxi drivers over there?? jizz!

you need the fuse anytime you hook any new lead to the battery. if you hook into the circuit that the scooter uses and is already fused, you dont need one (but the horn will blow that fuse). it is a fire prevention thing really, but every curcuit MUST HAVE A FUSE. it isnt worth it. less than $5 and a few minutes to prevent burning down your scooter and possible house or garage or whatever also. not to mention if something happened at night while sleeping...
