Are you certain you actually have an H4 socket? And yes.....the chances are very good that either the lens or socket will melt if you go higher than 35/35w. More likely....the battery will eventually go dead if the bulb is running off DC, or the beam won't be as bright as the old bulb if the headlight is running off AC. Result of switching to a 35/35w halogen bulb from the stock 35/35w incandescent.......

This is my current bulb Hs1 is what I currently have but the h4 should fit... Concerned about dead batt. The ebay description says that it runs cool. Bluefront- The bulb shouldn't melt like yours because it doesnt have rubber around it. I remember reading that you did have that issue... Thus my question before I actually change it.

H4 will fit a HS1 socket, but not the other way round. HS1 has a 10mm prong (the top larger one of the 3) H4 is around 8mm. My scoot has 2 head lights, both with HS1 bulbs, one did dipped beam the other did high beam. I rewired the bulb loom so that both sides came on with low or high beam. Over 9000km's running 70w of head lights and not had any problems with charging system, and they run off DC. I did try H4 bulbs at first but they ran too hot, started to discolor the reflector right above the bulbs. You'll only really know if a H4 will be suitable if you give it a try, and check the lense/reflector every so often to make sure all's O.K. You should be able to get HS1's with the blue tinted glass that give them the xenon look, they do produce a whiter light, they are what I now use and it does make a difference.

Whether or not your system will handle the extra electrical load.....varies from model to model. You'll never know what's happening until you hook up an AMP gauge, and check for charging. After I melted the connector, I switched over to an H4 socket (rigged it up)....I'm using a 35/35w halogen bulb now, without problems. It has a clear glass bulb with a black tip. I've heard the bulbs with the blue tint run hotter.....be careful. A new headlight lens for my scoot goes for about $85.

Bluefront- I agree I don't want to melt the lense either. I am hoping since it is the 35/35 it will not melt... still researching. Is your halogen bulb brighter than the original, is it yellow or white in color?
Just saw that blue is non dot approved... so looks like the ion spark white color should be ok.

The halogen 35/35 is definitely brighter than the OEM 35/35. Color of the light.....much more white than yellow I'd say. Here's a link to the entire conversion, including the mods I made to the reflector to remove some of the heat. Been working great since the install....

Bluefront- have you changed the small bulb next to headlight? Have you seen any led that fits there?
