I'll be making a decent trip with a friend tomorrow as I need to get it inspected. Some side street practice and we're taking a slightly slower but busier highway so I can keep pre- break-in speeds.
One cool thing, and something people may want to consider (pro's and con's on this), the school providing the course gives the option of using a scooter in the class. Very interesting. I'm undecided, but put scooter as my preference.
All I know of motorcycle riding is based on videos, but I kept grabbing for the rear brake as if it were a clutch and it was odd having the bike just go on throttle. Very weird, having not actually ridden a motorcycle, but I guess the videos and reading sunk in, because the instant power from throttle without a clutch offset and engine placement just felt a bit weird to me. Not to mention the smaller tires. It might just make more sense for some to opt for the scooter during the course if that's available and you know your interest ends with scooters.

Well, I went to delete the first post and it kept the thread alive afterwards. LOL. Anyway I got to put 20 miles on it to take it to get inspected. My first "real" ride on it. The bad thing is I just had no choice but to go over 30 mph for a lot of the trip, I just made it a point to keep the RPM's low. I'm hoping I'm not undoing break-in by hitting 40 mph here and there, but at least inspection's out of the way now. The good news to me is it apparently will have no problems handing speeds for the streets I plan to be on, and the seat is very comfortable. Most fun I had in a very long time, and I just want to ride all day now. Stinks that the friend who came along with me is required, as I'm using a learner's permit. :\ Great fun, my BRC course can't come quick enough. Edit: I was going to upload and link the video but the file comes up as damaged from my laptop even though the camera plays the video fine. Darn. I'll keep at it.
