Want to be above the Arctic Circle while there's 24hrs of continuous daylight. Plan on leaving out this Wednesday night or Thursday morning. No idea what the weather will be like, there's no weather reports north of Fairbanks. Even if it's raining here...weather can be different a couple hundred miles away.
New tires won't make it here in time, but the brakes and helmet did, so I should be good to go. And I got Progressive Insurance with Roadside Assistance...they'll tow unlimited miles to get me to the nearest repair facility (I recorded the phone call too, just in case).

What are you riding? FYI, the road can be pretty nasty after a rainstorm and the trucks can throw really big rocks.

that would be an awesome trip. only been as far north as chena hot springs myself. the man we rented a motorhome from said we had to stay away from anywhere with camp in the name. would love to scoot across alaska. best trip ever. if you have never been to alaska people, plan a trip. there is not alot of unspoiled places left and alaska is one of them. sarah palin is easily avoided.

Actually the notion of it always raining in Seattle has been true this year. I hope summer shows up soon.

Where did you leave from? Were you in the lower 48 to before your trip?
Lots of good luck. Not sure I would want to scoot to Alaska myself. Roads too rough. Would love to see the Northern Lights and the midnight sun though.

Hi Luke, In 1975 when my cousin and I decided to go to Fairbanks, end of July, and visit another cousin who was working on the pipeline, we were told things like how cold it was up there and we were shown pictures of downtown Fairbanks, so they said, dirt streets and all that goes with an almost deserted town. WRONG!! When we got there Aug 3rd it was 85 and and Fairbanks was a boomtown. Main street, Cushman, is a 3 lane one-way. All that just to say Alaska's summers are short but the beautiful weather and the long days make up for the long winters. I lived there for exactly 2 years. All you guys who live there know just how awesome a place it is. Bruce
