Well I got the Axle ands Rearend box in and installed. runs ok got it inspected and took a checkout ride , about 70 miles altogether. checked when i got home and found this...: seepic looks like combination of bearing grease and gear oil was dripping when hot but solid when cool. either bearings in hub or some rubber gasket bit the dust i suppose. all the problems have been on that left side. another wait to see what they gonna do now. Since Feb and have gotten 1 ride to get inspection and checkout... hope it gonna be an extended summer.. lol Attachments:

Parsonsj11, Man you cannot catch a break, it is probably the seal that is leaking did you install a new one or you could of maybe damaged it putting the shaft back in. PM MIKE6736 he just tore his apart and installed the whole gear box and had the thing apart he has it up and running great. Maybe he can shed some light on that section of the gearbox.
Sorry I cannot help cause I do not have one of those Lefty

parsonsj1 Pull that axle u-joint out and break the bands on that rubber grease dust cover and most likely there is nothing wrong but a bad boot cover. Go to a local ATV shop and see if they have something that will work.
I though IB gave you a new axle? I had mine in the shop once and they racked the trike to run it and I seen how close the boot was on the upper axle so made them change it to lift just in front of shocks. The weight of the trike give almost 1/2in clearence....

parsonsj1 It is not gear box oil, it can only be grease...If you open the outer end by hub you should be able to roll push it toward top of axle. Patch or replace that cover and pack with Mercury outboard grease, only grease I ever use....Than ride that Turkey Buzzard and enjoy it...You have no damaged axle or you would have noticed ar tear down, I just know you took the axle and bent and twested them just as I did. If nothing else for now pressure some grease in it and wrap it up tell part comes.

hey mike no grease/oil on boot at all comming out of the hub.. look at big version of picture thinking either the rubber bushing/seal or bearing letting gear oil into hub and comming out the axle side..
definately not the axle. remember whatever happened on mine took out the axle and rearend so i wouldn't doubt something on that hub went south too....
oh yea and lefty they only sent the rearend. not even the paper gaskets that goes on it so if any thing other should be replaced - if you don't ask they don't send. sux they should send whatever is needed.

In that case pull the wheel hub again and check the bearind insibe...only takes a few minutes, and yes if bad it would fry any thing in the hub.
Good luck....Mike

ok got lance checking on it but i went to IB parts pics and they do show 2 oils seals so i am assuming that they should have been replaced too. like i said you have to know all of the parts needed otherwise they just send what you ask for.. hopefully they can send new seals and that will be the end of the problem once and for all.. then i can get down to doing all of the other adjustments and such.
Since we have to do all of the diagnosis and work it would really be nice to have access to a manual for it. This guessing sux big time..

parsonsj11 Can not tell by the picture one is too small one too large. How is oil getting to rhe wheel hub area?? Have you checked bearing in wheel hub? FYI I put 12 oz og gear oil in my axle gear box 24miles of 55-65mph and every thing is great. I checked every bearing even in axle hubs.
Gonna go look at break down again

hey mike it's not on wheel end its the hub thats welded at top, on the adjustment plate.. there appears to be oil seals on the rearend box side to keep gear oil out of those bearings.. apparently the one on that side went south... need to clean out the hub, repack with bearing grease, install new seal, fill box with gear oil and good to go.... HOPEFULLY lol

OK, got ya....is that bearing OK? It is inside a little. Not sure how one would change that one, I was careful when putting u-joints back in not to bump the seals I though they were some kind of fiber...
Sure hope ya get it figured out and fixed....These trikes sure are fon. Going on a little 180 mile trip Saturday so better finish my LED lights over the deck fenders

Latest update. Waiting on parts.. Took CVT Cover off.. Clutch burned bad. see pic. adjusted valves -- there was way too much gap Exhaust set nut locked onto screw at end of it and i cant adjust it.. but the carb air/fuel mix screw is working more like it should. i now have about 3/4 a turn to go from low/die idle on each end, before i could go from all in to 3-4 turns out without much change.. so now wait on clutch, valve adjust screw and nut, and the rocker plate/oil seal for rear end. also have to take light assembly off of front and take apart. the screws for the headlights are loose and making a racket 1 low beam bulb loose.. gotta see it to tell why.. thinking they should just put all the parts in a case and ship the trike that way with a assembly manual. that would save all buyers much time and effort taking it apart and fixing and reassembling.. lol will post again at next step in the odessy Attachments:

ya thats what i figure. whoever did it instead of finding out what the problem was just opened the throttle till it came loose.. when i got it the guy backed it off the trailor and i drove it into the yard. after i got battery charged and started it it wouldn't go into reverse, i checked and the F/R Cable was completely off of the mount in the rear so i had to remount and set it for F/R ran ok except for stuttering which was either L axle or Transmission box (I replaced Both at the same time) Valve adjust set nut is so tight on the adjuster i took it out and used ViceGrips and socket and couldn't break it loose... Musta been a real bad day at the factory when mine was put together.. Maybe they just came back from a "re-orientation" meeting I understand they can be quite bothersome over there.... LOL
oh well just waiting for parts now and get noise's fixed and 'HOPEFULLY' will be done with the "tinkering"
OH YA I NOW KNOW A LOT MORE ABOUT SCOOTS THAN I EVER THOUGHT I WOULD
